Texan Christmas Wedding

This wedding is the very definition of a girl’s heaven, complete with glittery golds and pink galore. Kacie and Jonathan stayed true to their Texan roots, but also wanted a Christmas wedding. And what a fun holiday wedding they had! Shot by Luke and Cat Photography, you will find inspiration from end to end.

From the bride, Kacie: Jonathan and I have both always had a huge love and fascination for all things Christmas. It was a no-brainer for the both of us when deciding when to have the wedding, we immediately knew it had to be in December. Since I was little, one Christmas tree was never enough in our household, so when it came time for a wedding ‘theme’ I was super excited to break out my massive collection of trees, vintage Shiny Brite ornaments and tinsel. To me- the more the merrier with decorations. I was literally hanging tinsel in the barn to the very last minute, my mom had to tell me to get off the ladder and get dressed! We wanted our venue to be cozy and feel like home, and Rachel Ashwell’s The Prairie does just that.

A lot of thought went into choosing our songs, and we changed them several times. For the ceremony music, we wanted something upbeat and fun, so of course Sonny & Cher and The Beach Boys were a must!

My advice for future couples is to just relax! No matter how much you stress over every little detail, something will always change, so just go with it! As long as you’re married by the end of the day, then your wedding was a success. Just be thankful for the love that you both share, and focus on that. I promise no one will notice that your napkins are a different shade of ivory from the plates!

From Cat of Luke and Cat Photography: Kacie and Jonathan planned the cutest little Texas Christmas wedding you ever did see! Shabby chic Christmas, to be exact! The bride’s rowdy personal style came to life with her vision for the wedding day. The venue, The Prairie, is the creative outlet of shabby chic royalty, Rachel Ashwell. Handpainted signs and Christmas trees greeted the guests as they took the drive down the dirt road that leads to the property.

A basic white wedding dress just wouldn’t do for a bride like Kacie – so she hired a custom designer to make her dream dress come to life. The ruffled ombre pink gown was accentuated at the waist with a hot pink leather belt, and the bride wore her version of high heels – pink cowboy boots! No traditional flowers would do for a DIY expert like Kacie, so she made all the flowers herself by hand dying coffee filters various shades of pink. The bouquets were wrapped with antique found tassel and the boutonnières were accentuated with dyed (by the bride) mint colored felt ‘leaves’ and antique lace.

After being married outdoors at sunset underneath palm tree’s, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour (and custom koozies designed by the bride herself) in the courtyard area. As the newlyweds entered the reception, guests lined up and showered them with fake snow for their grand entrance through hot pink candy canes. The Prairie’s open air Pearl Barn’s vintage wallpaper, wooden floor, chandeliers, and tin roof were treated like a too-good-to-be-true canvas for the reception décor. Each table had unique linens and a different centerpiece of Christmas décor – ranging from vintage to classic. Highlights included funky hot pink trees, stuffed reindeer, tinsel, and every color Christmas ornament under the sky. Because no one should leave a Christmas party without a favor, the guests all grabbed a take-home favor of pink cotton candy.
