Rainy Day Colorado Wedding

Though Jeni and Greg were married a year ago in a civil ceremony, the couple knew they wanted to exchange vows with the presence of their nearest and dearest loved ones, with Rachael Grace Photography along to capture the day’s events. Though the pair planned an outside ceremony, rain forced their ceremony indoors to their reception site — but honestly, looking through these images we would never know that wasn’t the original plan!

From the bride, Jeni: We had always envisioned our wedding to be outside, surrounded by family and friends and for the details to have a vintage feel. It honestly became more than we could have ever dreamed of.

Our wedding became an enchanted, secret garden indoors. It rained and we had to move the ceremony into where we were having the reception, but it was so beautiful and intimate. The flowers looked and smelled amazing and really all I needed was Greg standing by my side. Greg, my mom and our family friend Linda and I spent months treasure hunting through thrift stores for all the plates we used at the reception. All the mason jars we used were found in my parents’ garage and on eBay.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? I think it helps to think about the big picture, what the day is actually about. Your love for each other, your love for your family and the celebration of those things. It’s hard not to get too detail-oriented, but having an amazing wedding planner helps! They will make your day run seamlessly and think of every little last thing. Our wedding planner is/was super awesome!

From the photographer, Rachael: It started with a civil ceremony a year ago, but Jeni and Greg knew that wasn’t enough. They wanted the big wedding to celebrate with all their loved ones. And it had to be in the mountains of CO. The place they dream about and hope to move back to some day. Jeni planned all the Anthropologie-inspired details pregnant and then while caring for an infant. Planning the details was her favorite part. Jeni and Greg are the couple that soaks up every moment. They don’t take anything and especially family for granted. They love without bounds, lucky little Judd.
