Sweet Dana Powers Wedding

Sweet Dana Powers Wedding

Oh, this wedding. This wedding got a special slice of my heart when I saw that we’d be able to share not only words from the bride, Erin, but also the groom, Daniel. And your heart will melt a bit when you hear what he has to say! Our great thanks go out to the always-fab Ken Kienow for his images.

From the bride, Erin: We both wanted a natural, relaxed, country inspired wedding. We decided on California as the state of choice, even though we were living in Brooklyn at the time. We planned a trip to California to try vendors and plan, and knew immediately that Dana-Powers was the place. It’s just so magical there. We were blessed to find such a great group of vendors! I spent time making personal additions to our invitations, but most of the other creative touches happened the week before or up to the day of the wedding. I had asked my mom and dad to yard sale for glass bottles, and some other key items, but I did not stress out about small things like favors, or place settings, and I think it really set the tone for a relaxed day.

It was seriously the best party I have ever been to, and I will remember it as the best day of my life. Also: stop pinteresting once you have made your decisions! After a certain point it will only confuse you.

From the groom, Daniel: Erin and I agreed beforehand that we wanted more of a rural, “country” venue and that after living in NYC for the last 3 years we didn’t want any city sight or sounds to be a part of this day. The Dana Powers Barn is perfect for what we wanted. The music was a cinch: Hall and Oates, a little Michael Jackson, some top 100 and you have a happy crowd. Make sure you (as the groom) cry when you dance with your mom and your bride and the rest is easy. Advice: SLOW DOWN. No seriously- no matter what you do, MAKE SURE you savor each and every second of the week leading up to, and the day of the wedding. It will fly by! Grooms: Make decisions too (they may not be perfect but it shows you care), what you wear is important. When you see all the work that went into your soon-to-be wife’s dress/make-up/shoes/etc. you are going to be happy you put effort into your own attire, trust me! You can’t touch her on this day, but you don’t want to look like a slouch up there, right?
