Beach Destination Wedding in Punta Cana
I’m firmly of the belief that there’s no better way to kick off the weekend than with a destination wedding, so let’s do just that. Angie and Eddie knew from the get-go they wanted a destination wedding, and were sold on Punta Cana the minute they saw Jelly Fish Restaurant. A romantic weekend with plenty of greenery, touches of pink, and a bit of gold ensued, all captured by Asia Pimentel Photography!
From the bride, Angie: Sharing a love for travel and adventure, we knew right off the bat that we wanted to have a destination wedding. Originally, we were thinking about a wedding at our resort, however after searching on Pinterest we came across Jellyfish Restaurant and immediately fell in love with how personalized their weddings are. Browsing through photos of the venue looking at how beautifully they decorate their weddings, there was no other place we could imagine getting married. We wanted to have one of those Pinterest Weddings and felt that Jellyfish would make it happen. Jellyfish nailed it.
Our vision for the wedding was a romantic and whimsical, yet still beachy theme. We wanted to have a soft color palette consisting of gold, ivory, soft peach and a hint of green. Being in a happy and tropical setting, we wanted to go with these bright yet soft colors. We didn’t want the wedding to look or feel too formal since it was in a beach setting, but it still felt like it was very elegant. Our home is very eclectic and nothing is matchy-matchy, which is very us and so we wanted that to reflect in the decor at the wedding as well. We loved how the colors mixed so beautifully with the bare tables and how gorgeous the vintage mixed with bohemian and elegance turned out. About our wedding ceremony: We couldn’t imagine ourselves getting married in a church setting though we are Christians. We did want to incorporate our faith into the ceremony and picked our Pastor after reading his sample ceremonies because they were very touching. We held a crucifix together in our hands during a special reading and plan to hang it in our home to remind us of this incredible day. It was so windy during the entire ceremony, and looking back at photos of how crazy everyone’s hair looked just brings funny memories to mind and reminds us of how happy and crazy the day really was.
About our reception and party: The bistro lighting and candles against the dreamy decor just looked incredible. Having 91 guests sitting at long family style tables made it feels so cozy but so special. We have a large family with everyone eager to give speeches, so we did have someone talking for a majority of dinner. Every speech was so touching and made us feel so loved and grateful to have had people from around the world travel to be part of this special day. Crazy hour really jump started the party and the dance floor was never empty after that. We had such a special group of family and friends there with us. To see new friendships forming and bonds growing with the incredible new memories made at the wedding was our dream come true.
