Happy + Bright Easter Party Inspiration
It feels like 2017 just began, but Easter is already right around the corner! This weekend we’ll be dyeing eggs and eating way too much chocolate, but for now we’ll just build anticipation with this adorable shoot from The Happy Bloom and French Knot Studios. Plenty of freshly picked flowers, sweet treats, and the most precious kids decked out in their Easter finest all lie within, plus a sweet DIY project for the kiddos!
Mostly Kid-Friendly Easter Flowers
For this project, you will need:
Assorted Easter baskets – small sizes are best
Acrylic craft paint in festive spring colors
Paint brush
Small container to waterproof the basket (or a plastic bag trimmed to fit)
Floral foam
Knife to shape foam (adults only!)
Sturdy stem flowers (carnations are ideal)
Floral scissors (adults only!)
Directions:
1. Paint Easter basket, outside and inside the top edge. Let dry. Apply a second coat if needed. Let dry overnight.
2. Place container or waterproof liner inside the basket.
3. Soak floral foam in water (about 10 minutes).
4. ADULT: use a knife to shape the foam to fit the container/basket. The foam should not sit above the edge of the basket.
5. ADULT: trim the flowers so the stems are about 2-4 inches long.
6. Hold the stems and gently push the flowers into the floral foam. Make sure to keep the blooms close together to make a dense pillow of petals.
7. Foam should keep the flowers hydrated for a day or two, but be sure to check on them and water as needed. You may want to remove the container from the basket to do so.
Other ideas…
Plant the containers with succulents, just use dirt instead of floral foam, and add pebbles or moss to hide the soil.
Serve cookies, bread, or other treats in the baskets.
Place a ramekin of dip in the basket and surround with crudité vegetables or bread bites.
After brunch, pack leftovers in the baskets instead of to go boxes.
