Glamorous Old World Wedding Inspiration
It’s nearly impossible to pick just one place to start with this styled shoot from Whitney Nichols Photography (who also took care of all the floral arrangements), but right at the top is the scene-stealing gown by Anna Campbell. As the title suggests, it fuses the Old World era with the most romantic glam style. Let’s get a little moody:
From the photographer and floral designer, Whitney Nichols Photography: First and foremost, we wanted to give brides beautiful indoor reception inspiration, especially with winter in full swing here on the east coast. It can be challenging to create a setting inside that is equal in beauty to all the outdoor weddings set during the spring and summer months, and this was an opportunity for us to inspire the winter bride. The Inns of Aurora (Finger Lakes region of NY) has maintained an impeccably timeless aura in their village. With a handful of establishments, ranging from a wedding venue, boutique inns, and a newly renovated spa, it was the perfect location for this shoot. Secondly, we wanted to feature a dress that would encourage a bride to step outside of the box, and consider something exquisite, like a piece of art on its own.
The vibe of the shoot started with a few subtle nods to both the romance of Atonement (2007 British romantic-drama war film with Keira Knightley) and a bit of Gatsby glamour and style… overall, we were after the style, grace, and warm luxury of an indoor dinner party that may have occurred during the last glamorous years before the war. While these were just stepping stones for our inspiration, we found that incorporating the historic setting provided by the buildings at the Inns of Aurora brought to the setting a sense of sweet nostalgia. For the table scape in particular, we wanted to craft a scene that would be reminiscent of a grand dinner gathering from the last years of true elegance and aristocracy. You’ll notice in the hair, makeup, gown, and table scape styling that the 1930s was our “go to” decade of inspiration.
