Dallas Garden Wedding

Whenever Natalie of n.barrett photography, floral + event design of Bows and Arrows and paper goods by Southern Fried Paper team up, we just know it’s going to be pure beauty. Seriously, between the succulents potted in coffee mugs, the incredible stained glass window display for the ceremony, and the bride’s delicate Reem Acra gown, this is quickly shaping up to be one of our favorite garden weddings of the year!

From the bride, Brittany: Jamie and I are city dwellers but we’re also very outdoorsy. I wanted the wedding to feel sophisticated, but not glitzy, and rustic/organic but not country. Basically, I wanted it to feel like a comfortable extension of our personalities. What was most important to us is that our guests feel appreciated and that they have fun, and that everyone left with a true sense of what marriage is really about – Christ’s love for the church expressed through the love of husband and wife.

The stained glass windows that we hung in the ceremony space were a surprise from my dad. He found them online from a church that was being torn down. A monk saved the windows and put them up for sale. He and my brother spent the morning of the wedding hanging the panels in the garden. When I arrived and saw them, I was shocked. It was so beautiful and an incredible way to bring a church-like atmosphere to an outdoor space.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? My advice is to meticulously choose your vendors based on your style. There are so many different vendors out there and they all have distinct styles and personalities. I was careful to choose vendors whose style I adored, then explained by vision and trusted them to make it happen. That way, you won’t be stressing out about all the tiny design details because you know they really “get” your vision.

Also, talk to your groom and decide what is really important to you as a couple. If it’s amazing food, then focus your budget accordingly. If it’s stellar entertainment, focus on that. Don’t worry about doing too much that guests won’t remember. Focus on four main elements: design, food, dress, entertainment. Lastly, just have fun and enjoy the day! Work hard to be present and take mental snapshots throughout the day. Really look in your new husband’s eyes and enjoy these amazing moments together.
