Dallas Garden Wedding

Whenever Natalie of n.barrett photography, floral + event design of Bows and Arrows and paper goods by Southern Fried Paper team up, we just know it’s going to be pure beauty. Seriously, between the succulents potted in coffee mugs, the incredible stained glass window display for the ceremony, and the bride’s delicate Reem Acra gown, this is quickly shaping up to be one of our favorite garden weddings of the year!

From the bride, Brittany: Jamie and I are city dwellers but we’re also very outdoorsy. I wanted the wedding to feel sophisticated, but not glitzy, and rustic/organic but not country. Basically, I wanted it to feel like a comfortable extension of our personalities. What was most important to us is that our guests feel appreciated and that they have fun, and that everyone left with a true sense of what marriage is really about – Christ’s love for the church expressed through the love of husband and wife.

The stained glass windows that we hung in the ceremony space were a surprise from my dad. He found them online from a church that was being torn down. A monk saved the windows and put them up for sale. He and my brother spent the morning of the wedding hanging the panels in the garden. When I arrived and saw them, I was shocked. It was so beautiful and an incredible way to bring a church-like atmosphere to an outdoor space.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? My advice is to meticulously choose your vendors based on your style. There are so many different vendors out there and they all have distinct styles and personalities. I was careful to choose vendors whose style I adored, then explained by vision and trusted them to make it happen. That way, you won’t be stressing out about all the tiny design details because you know they really “get” your vision.

Also, talk to your groom and decide what is really important to you as a couple. If it’s amazing food, then focus your budget accordingly. If it’s stellar entertainment, focus on that. Don’t worry about doing too much that guests won’t remember. Focus on four main elements: design, food, dress, entertainment. Lastly, just have fun and enjoy the day! Work hard to be present and take mental snapshots throughout the day. Really look in your new husband’s eyes and enjoy these amazing moments together.

  • Hi!!! I am absolutely IN LOVE with that china. Did you rent it? Personal? Any leads would be AHMAZING!!!

  • I am the bride and I am delighted to read so many sweet comments! I wanted to reply to some questions. So sorry for the delay!

The windows are from a church that was being torn down. My dad bought them on EBay and we are considering selling them, so if you’re seriously interested, let me know and I will send you my email address.

My mom’s dress is by Lela Rose and it was from the Spring 2012 collection, so no longer available in that fabric, but the shape is going forward for next season.

The china was rented from Posh Couture Rentals in Dallas.

    Hope that helps! Happy planning!

    • Hi Brittany – I’m just now coming across this post … Did y’all end up selling the church windows?? I’d be interesting in purchasing them from you if not.
      Christina

    • Hi 🙂

Did you ever sell the windows? Your wedding was so gorgeous – I love so many elements of it.

Would love to buy/rent these windows. 🙂

    • Hi Brittany, I know I am a little late to this party, but I am hoping this finds its way to you. I would like to do something similar for my daughter’s wedding and have windows that I am making. I am hoping you can tell me who helped your family with the installation of them for the ceremony.

Thank you for sharing your wedding photos.

      • Brittany’s father and brother installed the windows with the help of a couple of other men they knew — it was not a professional installation per se, although they did a great job! We wish you well with your wedding

        (I’m the groom’s mother.)

  • Do you mind me asking the location of the wedding? It is absolutely beautiful, and I’ve been searching for something exactly like it in the DFW area for months! Beautiful wedding!

  • The venue is Marie Gabrielle, I looked at it for my wedding but the rain contingency plan is lacking in sorts although a beautiful venue for sure.

  • Hi Brittany (the lovely Bride),
I’m getting married at Marie Gabrielle next September and I was wanting to bring the church feel to the outdoors. I stumbled across your beautiful wedding and it has inspired me. I LOVE love love the old church windows. Is you dad still considering selling them? If so, I’m definitely interested!
