Wool and Lights Wedding Inspiration

This morning’s photoshoot by Katie Pietrowski and Cole Gorman of Blest Photography is just plain gorgeous inspiration for any day of the year. The photographers took elements from the couple’s own wedding and spun it into a styled shoot in Raleigh, North Carolina. We love how a strategically placed string of twinkle lights can transform any space!

From the photographer, Katie: Cole Gorman is a good friend of mine as well as a fellow photographer, so we decided to join forces and do a styled shoot together. I’m based in Boston and he is based in Raleigh, so I guess you can spin it as two photographers putting their ideas together to do a styled shoot in North Carolina. One of Cole’s couples from December agreed to be the models, so we took some elements from their actual wedding to create the theme of the shoot. Jared gave each of his groomsmen hand-knit ties to wear on the wedding day, and Amy had incorporated elements of wool throughout the wedding day. Our brainstorming sessions led us to our theme: Wool & Lights.

From there, we found the perfect spot for the shoot: a quaint little farm in Wake Forest complete with chickens, lambs, and a cute cat named Bolt. Incorporating the lamb into the shoot was incredible as it tied the entire theme together. Cole and I found all of the silver, plate and glassware at local antique shops or thrift stores, and we worked with two incredible vendors who brought our vision to life. TreBella Florist in Durham is to thank for all the beautiful flowers, and they did a fantastic job taking our ideas and creating beautiful arrangements with pops of orange, pink & lavender. We also worked closely with Jamie Morehouse from Cakes to Envy for the super-unique cake she put together for the shoot. We told her the theme, and by the end of our meeting, she had an idea for a three-layer cake with balls of yarn as accents.

  • How unique and lovely! The flowers are all so very pretty. I especially love the lamb 🙂

  • What is the farm called in Wake Forest? I so badly want to find a rustic spot that actually has animals on the property 🙂
