Dominican Republic Destination Wedding

We’ve got an enchanting destination wedding today and we’re so excited to share this Asia Pimentel Photography wedding in the always-beautiful Dominican Republic. Lilly and Jerry whisked away their friends and family to this picturesque spot, said their I Do’s with the most jaw-dropping views in the background, and then had an ultra-fantastic reception that was the epitome of beach romance. Lots of candles, cream-colored florals, and a neutral palette set the scene for their reception.

From the bride, Lilly: Jerry and I met when we were about 7 years old. Our mothers go to the same Seventh Day Adventist Church. Jerry and I used to go to the bible classes for kids. However, it wasn’t until we were 16 or 17 that we started to have romantic feelings towards each other. We were camping with friends when the flirtation started. A few months later, he asked me to be his girlfriend. We’ve dated the entire time and we’re going on 16 years! Jerry and I love to travel. For my 30th birthday, he took me to Jamaica. Jerry and I, until that day, had never taken any couples photos. So on the first day at the resort, he told me he booked a photo session for the last day. I was so excited. On the last day, it was pouring rain so I told him to cancel it because it was not going to work out. He decided to keep the appointment and hope for the best and not cancel it. It stopped raining about 30 minutes before our photo session. During sunset, we started the photo session by the edge of the beach. The photographer knew that Jerry was gonna propose. In one photo the photographer tells me to look at the ocean, while Jerry was behind me getting down on one knee. The photographer told me to turn around and when I did I saw him on one knee. I started to cry. I was in shock. I couldn’t believe that my special day was here and I loved every moment of it.

Our ceremony was unique in the sense that the person that married us was my husband’s older brother. He’s studying to be a pastor and it was perfect for him to marry us. We would be the first couple he married, so it was very special for my husband and his brother, and also for us. Because no one knew that he was going to marry us, it was a beautiful surprise for everyone. My husband’s mother was crying just watching her older son marry her middle child. I loved our vows to each other. My husband is not the romantic type, so it was a nice moment to hear him say such sweet things to me.

What made the reception special is that everything I had hoped and wished my wedding would be had come true. Natalia, my wedding planner, did such a beautiful job in capturing my vision for the wedding. I couldn’t get over how gorgeous it looked, like all the beautiful details like the lace around the napkins. Something else that I found so special were all the speeches. We only had the usual people scheduled, our parents, maid of honor, and the best man. We ended up with about 10 speeches. I was just so happy that so many people wanted to say such beautiful things about us. What a special dinner it was for my husband and I.

From the photographer, Asia Pimentel PhotographyLilly and Jerry planned their dream destination wedding off the coast of the Dominican Republic. They chose the gorgeous Edon Roc Caleton Cap Cana for its secluded, stunning property along the Caribbean Sea. For their dream wedding, they envisioned a simple, beautiful and romantic wedding with lots of candles. They love simple details and with their mutual love for blue, they chose royal blue and a delicate lace to be incorporated into the details of their wedding. On the day of the wedding, Lilly looked gorgeous in her lace champagne color wedding gown by Alfred Angelo. She accessorised with strappy flats adorned with pearls from Baldi London. Her beautiful embellished headpiece and veil were from a antique bridal boutique called Mazdo Bridal and her pearl earrings were classic Kate Spade.

Jerry looked just as handsome in a royal blue suit from Vitarelli Italy with suspenders and shoes from Calvin Klein. Lilly’s bridesmaids looked gorgeous in blue, floor-length gowns while their groomsmen wore grey vests and pants with white dress shirts from Al Weiss and ties from Van Heusen. The ceremony setup was stunning, with an ethereal white canopy on wood and overhanging flowers and greenery. The couple exchanged vows and said, “I do” surrounded by 35 of their closest family and friends. The reception that followed was just as stunning, with beautiful details like lace tied around the napkins, gold festive plates, flower arrangements, and romantic hanging lights. The cake was a two-tier cake with white frosting, filled with carrot cake and dulce de leche. With Lilly’s love for cupcakes, they also had red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. The beautiful couple danced the night away under a delicate chandelier and alongside local fire dancers that performed for them and their guests. The entire day was absolutely magical.
