Pennsylvania Wedding with Soft Purples

Soft shades of blush pink and lavender, fluffy peony and hydrangea floral arrangements, and one couple unbelievably in love — that’s the recipe for today’s wedding. Gloria and Mike’s wedding day was sophisticated, romantic, and elegant, and no one was better suited for the job of documenting the big day than film photographer Lauren Gabrielle Photography.

From the bride, Gloria: The look that we were going for was spring elegance with a touch of romance, which was inspired when I could not just choose one color for the bridesmaid dresses and ended up blending some shades of blush pinks and lavenders. I wanted our wedding to embody a fresh spring ambiance pulled together with a formal black tie event feel as well, to portray the importance of this day for both my fiance (now husband!!!) and I and our families, as well as to make the guests have a relaxed and fun time celebrating with us. So we decided to go with black tuxedos for the groomsmen, and fun colors for the bridesmaid dresses, and had a miniature bridal party with all the toddlers and kids in our families (who doesn’t love the laughter and joy kids bring to the ceremony when they walk down the aisle?).

Flower recipe: The factor that really pulled both the formal and soft looks together were our flowers: a blend of white and pink peonies, blush pink hydrangeas, lavender spray roses, garden roses, and pink ranunculus on the wedding cake, centerpieces, and my bouquet was mainly a soft pink and white peony, with white peonies for the bridesmaids’ bouquets.

Any advice for couples planning their wedding day now? Some advice I have for couples currently planning their own special day is to take time away from planning and spend it with the girls and guys who are so involved in your day (shoutout to the most helpful bridesmaids in the world!) and cherish the people who give so much to be a part of your day (for us it was our families). Aside from that, keep your eye on the overall theme and stick to it (it will be a lifesaver when it comes to the nitty gritty details). Also, my husband and I were a long distance couple for our whole relationship (Michigan and Pennsylvania), and I was also finishing nursing school at the time. I know there are plenty of other couples out there who are also juggling many many deadlines and milestones, and it is important to remember why you are getting married in the first place – to join paths with your best friend and the one you love most. It makes it all so much more fun and enjoyable!
