Romantic Hickory Street Annex Wedding
This wedding has so much to love, so you better start preparing yourself right now. Apryl Ann Photography and Blue Lotus worked to make Danielle and Benjamin’s wedding day a magical event, and it’s a no-brainer to say they had total success. Truly, how stunning is that ceremony setup?
From the bride, Danielle: I had always envisioned a jazz band at my wedding so I kind of built the theme around that. It had an inviting classic elegance about it that really did make the whole night magical! The classic elements were subtle: skinny black ties and slim fitting suits, lace, the font on the invitations, twinkle lights and music choice. The venue, food, flowers and lighting made it feel very relaxed and accessible.
Bouquet recipe: hydrangea, spray roses, cabbage roses, succulents, dusty miller, stock, and dahlias.
I told my bridesmaids to choose a dress in the neutral color palette (nude, blush, tan, cream, gold or silver). I really liked the way metallics looked with the neutral colors! It felt like winter without being Christmasy. The flowers gave the needed pop of color. My good friend Krista made the lace runner for the head table. My mom, sisters and I potted the individual succulents for each place setting as the wedding favor. Most everything else was outsourced as I planned the wedding from out of state haha!
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? 1. Don’t take out wedding stress on your fiance!!! The whole process is very taxing but it only makes things 10x worse if your relationship suffers for it. 2. Don’t procrastinate. Just don’t do it! 3. Delegate. It was really hard for me to do this. I was planning a wedding in Texas from North Carolina so I needed to trust my friends and family to handle things for me but it was really hard to give up control of every little detail. They were perfectly capable and did an amazing job, but I would have been a lot more relaxed if I had delegated more. You will drive yourself crazy if you don’t let people help you! I was even worried my fiance would put the stamps on the invitation crooked so I let him seal them but I put the stamps on haha! I promise I wasn’t a Bridezilla, just a little neurotic :).
