Spring Floral Inspiration

Bella Calla and Jordan Weiland Photography recently collaborated on a styled shoot to highlight some less-expected variations of spring bouquets and floral arrangements. Included in the list is a variety of blooms inspired by Pantone’s color of 2014, Radiant Orchid – and the beauty just keeps going from there!

From the florist, Lilli of Bella Calla: Bella Calla has created 3 look options for spring brides. We wanted to inspire spring brides to think outside the traditional box of white wedding flowers or pink mounds of hydrangea. The three looks we’ve come up with are inspired by very different ideas. The first, Pink Kumquat, is inspired by those first spring bulbs popping up through the ground. The second is inspired by Pantone’s color of the year, Radiant Orchid, is rich with varied shades of purples, minty silvery greens, full of texture, and very lush. The third, Lemons and Lace, is inspired by spring sunshine hitting wedding dresses in a window.

Pink Kumquat: This moment was inspired by those first spring flowers that pop their faces up in the garden. Ranunculus is the star here, supported by hyacinth, French heather, pincushions, poppies, anemones and paperwhites. The centerpiece is a growing wonderland of spring flowers in a ceramic container. The bouquet is a sweet mix of pinks, tart oranges, rich creams and pops of coral. Tiny yellow accents in the form of feverfew brighten the mix. The wrapping is raw silk in an antique gold. The boutonnieres are different, showing more than one option for brides who like to mix it up. The first, a succulent mixed with blushing bride protea and dusty miller, allows the guy to stay masculine while wearing the bout. The second, a soft, delicate ranunculus, matches the soft bouquet perfectly. The head piece, by Kitty Mae, matches the bouquet as well, mirroring the one perfect anemone.

Wild Orchid: The colors are a variety of purples from lavender to lilac, royal to eggplant. With the ombre of shades and the rich texture of greens, the designs look elegant, playful, and spring-inspired all at once. The glassware that accompanies the floral is a silver mercury glass, which adds a slightly vintage, but elegant touch to the tablescape. The bouquet, filled with orchids, tulips, green trick, seeded eucalyptus, and stock, has fun, organic texture and is wrapped in a soft pewter silk ribbon. The boutonniere is a bit of purple sea-holly, with seeded eucalyptus. It is masculine and playful. The centerpiece is a lushly overflowing mercury glass bowl. It’s filled with rich purples, soft lavenders, and silvery greens. The accompanying headband, by Kitty Mae Millinery, a handmade birdcage metal headpiece, has soft lavender silk flowers, ostrich feathers, and is made from silver wire.

Lemons and Lace: Vintage milk glass pieces with sunny yellow daisies, asters, and lovely poppies are the focus of this look. The tablescape is a cluster of truly vintage milk glass, pretty ceramic birds, a vintage piece of lace from an old wedding dress, and gold accents. The floral includes poppies, billy balls, feverfew, roses, asters, daisies, and some lovely ornamental white and green kale. The kale and poppies add a touch of blush color to the whites, and the gerbera daisies add a happy lemony yellow to the rest of the buttercream palate. The spunky boutonniere has a creamy yellow matsumoto aster and some craspedia. The bouquet is kale, daisies, asters, and feverfew wrapped in gingham and pearls.
