West Side Story Inspiration Shoot
What could be a better jumping off point for a styled shoot than the classic musical, West Side Story? Reds, yellows, and – of course – a hardy dose of dancing make this session truly shine, but not without the fantastic helping hands of Marvelous Things Photography and Janie Medley Flora Design. So let’s go ahead and jump into the 1950s spirit:
from the photographer, Tori of Marvelous Things Photography: I came together with some other local vendors from Richmond, VA to put together this shoot inspired by West Side Story. While we didn’t want to do a strong imitation of it, we took our inspiration from the movie’s aspects of brick, iron, red, yellow, dancing and of course a 1950s vibe. It’s simple and lovely and showcases some beautiful floral and easy decor that any bride could pull off or incorporate into her special day. The models are a local couple named Mandie and Eric Waagner.

What an adorable couple. I love the vibrant colors and the mini two tier wedding cake. Great photography work as well!
What brand are the bride’s shoes?? They’re adorable!
I was wondering the same thing! Beautiful heels!
They are Mix No. 6 brand, and I believe they were purchased from DSW.com!
I loved shooting this and working with all of these amazing vendors. Thank you so much for a gorgeous feature!
