1920s Inspired Ace Hotel Wedding
Oh, Ace Hotel – there’s just no end to our love affair with you. Amanda and Cody’s Palm Springs wedding was complete with an “I love you to the moon” theme designed by the bride, with a touch of floral design from My Little Flower Shop and images by the always-superb onelove photography. Let’s jump in!
From the bride, Amanda: We had the hashtag “debacker magic” because we wanted a magical wedding. AND because all the men in the family say they have the DeBacker magic. What was important was family, friends, dancing and food. We had an “I love you to the moon” wedding theme. I incorporated a 1920’s modern feel to match the atmosphere of the Ace. We had gold and white chevron runners, bright flowers with gold accents and vintage 1920’s framed sheet music. For escort table we used marquee letters and chalkboard signs. I used paper flowers for our archway to save money and they matched perfect! We bought tons of cafe lights to fill the room with soft light. Our photobooth backdrop was inspired by old “man in the moon” photos. We had the Ace cater and the food was amazing! It was tacos! Our guest said it was the best wedding food they ever had. It’s all about throwing a great party and being in love.
I highly recommend the first look. We got married at sunset so we had to do the first look. At first I was concerned it would take away from the ceremony, but it was amazing! It actually added another “experience” for the day that was exciting, romantic and personal. When I walked down the aisle it was a completely different feeling and moment, and now I had 2 of those moments! My husband cried almost the whole ceremony and first look and I laughed and smiled all day. We were full of emotion and all the pictures captured that! The wedding video we received after was a splurge, but the best decision I made. I have watched it over and over.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? No matter how many times you hear it from other brides and don’t believe it, the day goes SO FAST. You don’t care about the things you thought you would or notice the things you thought you would. Start planning early so you can relax closer to the date.Create an atmosphere from your heart. What mattered most to me was music, lighting and great food. I wanted to throw a party! Use Etsy for every idea you have, they have it all. I did all the planning and ideas myself. Also, please get a hair and makeup person! I know it’s expensive, but it’s so worth it! Relax, drink champagne and take it all in. Mine were amazing.
