Massachusetts Orchard Wedding

Nothing quite feel as homey and intimate like a wedding at a barn, and nothing quite feel as romantic as vintage touches in a wedding at an orchard. This what this wedding shot by Dreamlove Photography is all about, arriving perfectly as the summer ends. With dreamy florals by Petal Floral Design, the flowy bridesmaids dresses are every lady-in-waiting’s dream.

From the bride, Jessica: The best thing about our wedding day was absolutely everything. Every person was so full of love; it was palpable. Seeing all the pieces and craft projects come together, turning our vision into something even more beautiful, was pretty awesome too. I especially loved seeing guests’ reactions to our old family pictures sprawled on the gift table. It was the most intimate feeling seeing all our family and friends mixed up in pictures of each other.

Whimsical and vintage best describe the look of our wedding. Before I started planning, I fell in love with a local fabric store. I ended up choosing 7 colors ranging from mustard yellow to blush to sea foam. We left them hanging in our living room for the entire year and a half of planning as a reminder of our design spectrum. These colors ended showing up as our bridesmaids dresses, the flag bunting hung in the barn and most other places subtly. Aside from using a broad color scheme, we just chose decor that was whimsical and anything with a pattern that felt right (heart patterned wish tags). Our biggest DIY project was the wood circles seating chart. Between trial and error sanding techniques and finding the right wood burner, to coming up with a perfect display for them – it was a project that kept us busy but was definitely worth it.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Give yourself enough time for the planning process, in order to eliminate rushing and unnecessary stresses. Look for vendors who feel “get you” and your style, innately. Above all, if you go into this with a goal of planning the most fun and carefree environment for everyone – it will be just that. Take your time and be in love with each other and every single detail of your wedding. If you go with what you love and what you think will bring the most joy to you and guests, your wedding will not only be fabulous but an extension of yourself.

From the photographer, Katie: From the vintage velour furniture on the lawn to the overflowing colorful bouquets created by Petal Floral Design, there was something pretty around every corner. The barn itself was decorated with twinkling lights and colorful pendants were strung from wall to wall. Jess and her bridesmaids all wore Toms wedge shoes, and the bridesmaid dresses were shades of coral and pale pink, with her maid of honor wearing mint green. The guest favors looked straight out of Anthropologie, with a vintage stencil of a bride and groom kissing printed on the drawstring canvas bags.
