Fun-Filled Texas Wedding
I love this fancy meets casual wedding! Julia and Matt infused their playful and sassy style into every detail of their wedding. Julia wore a short ruffled dress while Matt looked dapper in his seersucker suit and cowboy boots. Their photographer, Francis of Francis Joseph Photography, was on hand to capture all the fun and silliness that ensued.
From the bride, Julia:
I suppose that unlike most women, my theme/feel of the wedding did not just pop into my head, nor had I thought about it much before we got engaged. The theme of the wedding was born from three things: our identity as a couple (goofiness and our immense love for each other), the venue we chose (Villa Antonia) and (not to sound shallow or anything, but…) my dress (short, fluffy and COVERED with flowers and ruffles).
The venue, best described as “Texas-Tuscan”, was a lavish backdrop for a very casual, folksy and unique affair. That juxtaposition of a super-fancy environment with not-so-fancy everything else, allowed for tongue-and-cheek kind of thing (cupcakes with funny flavor names, my short and sassy dress, two-stepping music, Matt’s sear-sucker suit, the groomsmens’ linen guayabaras, and of course the cowboy boots).
Humor and love are two reigning themes in our lives and we wanted the wedding to reflect both. Also, comfort was a HUGE HUGE factor of the wedding. My dress had better allow me to drink some beer and eat lots of crab cakes and even lie down…if it came to that).
The blue orchids were just divine! They really played up the playful and unique aspect of the wedding. The contrast between the sharp blue of the orchid with the soft and fluffy light-blue hydrangea was a great little combo.
Also, the curly willow and vine squiggles in the bouquets and in the centerpieces were just so freakin’ cute you couldn’t help but smile.
Matt wore a light blue sear-sucker suit with a blue and white polkadot tie with a white pocket square, brown cowboy boots and a smile.
Advice from Julia:
Stretch the envelope. Do something unique to you and your fiance. Even if it’s small, your guests and ultimately YOU will appreciate the extra thought and effort. Don’t forget through all the little details and stressful things to plan, you will be married at the end of the day. Simple. Easy. Don’t freak out if your white-to-red wine ratio is off at the bar.
And If you can, have a loved one, a priest you know very well, or someone who knows you both marry you. This will make it all the more special.
