Glamorous Venues: Vernon Hills, Illinois
Reader Maggie suggested this venue to me and I was happy she did…this place is gorgeous! It used to be the home estate of John Cuneo, Sr. from 1937 until 1990. In 1991 the Cuneo Mansion opened its doors to the public as a museum. It was also the site of “My Best Friend’s Wedding†with Julia Roberts.
Maggie is getting married at Cuneo Museum and shares a little bit about the location:
“Their garden area features over 75 acres which include several formal gardens, a peacock(!!) house, a green house, white Fallow Deer pen, fountains, statues, and a 50’s style underground pool (which isn’t used, but still maintained). The mansion/museum itself is styled after Venetian architecture and is a pinkish salmon color! Inside it has beautiful construction details, a gorgeous staircase, a baby grand antique piano and has Italian and French artwork, all collected from the Cuneo family in the early 20th century.”
