Whimsical Greenville Wedding
What’s sweeter than a styled elopement filled with colorful blooms, pops of fuchsia and orange, and enough whimsy to make Dr Seuss himself jealous? MelNocks Photography, Upstate I Do, and The Embassy Flowers put together this styled shoot in the heart of Greenville, South Carolina, full of small-city charm with big-city glamour.
From the photographer, MelNocks Photography: Shortly after meeting in the “Big Apple,” Bridget and Preston began their unexpected love affair with Greenville during a quick weekend getaway to visit friends. Who would have ever thought that a few short years later, they would return—not only to get engaged, but also later to tie the knot. Wanting to embrace their urban roots, they narrowed their search to Greenville’s iconic Main Street and instantly fell in love with the gorgeous natural space, known as Village Green. This airy, grassy area was the perfect outdoor option they hoped for, while still providing them (and all their guests) the big city amenities The Courtyard Marriott offers.
Inspired by her summertime June date, Bridget envisioned bold colors right from the start. Rich warm hues of orange and magenta contrasted beautifully to the simple, earthy notes of moss and wood. These elements, alongside countless spools of colorful ribbon and a personalized silhouette, helped to tie each and every detail together spectacularly. A simple afternoon ceremony set the tone for a relaxed southern event. Bridget and Preston stood under an arch of cascading flowers and ribbon, perfectly merging this whimsical flare with the natural elements they so adore. These florals were a dream. Perfectly organic, asymmetrical arrangements of bright, bold colors decorated both the alter and tables alike. The playful colors adorned the tables as well, keeping a cohesive theme through every detail. Creative round menus were carefully placed on each plate, alongside a custom-cut wooden place card for each and every invitee.
Guests were invited to wish the couple well on a customized silhouette frame. The cut wood and moss was the perfect personalized backdrop for their loved ones to sign. Also perched on the moss-paneled bar, the mouth-watering cake boasted true craftsmanship, with hand-painted ombre polka dots and delicately molded sugar flowers. Layers of orange sherbet made a statement as Bridget and Preston shared their first piece together. Fusing the wood, moss, and ribbon elements fluently once more, a custom “forever and ever” sign rounded off the vignette with effortless style. Near the end of the evening, Bridget and Preston leapt aboard a gorgeous white vintage Rolls Royce, taking one last opportunity to ride down Main Street, in a city that captured their hearts forever.
