Wedding Style Meets the Big Easy

Wedding Style Meets the Big Easy

There are few cities as rife with their own personal style as New Orleans, Louisiana. Brass instruments, Mardi Gras, and a nod to French sensibilities are the first things that come to mind for me, and this styled shoot from GreenAutumn Photography & Film, Frou Frou House, Delight Floral Design fuses these things together for an inspiring styled shoot that has us yearning for a trip down south!

From the paper goods designers, Frou Frou House: The inspiration for our styled shoot came from a recent trip to the culturally infused city of New Orleans. Belonging to our neighbours down south, this little gem was packed with breathtaking architecture, musical history, classic flair and indigenous cuisine. It was not hard for us to fall in love and envision a styled wedding based on the Big Easy lifestyle and culture.

Our tablescape featured a French Horn as the centerpiece borrowing from the city’s affair with brass instruments. This was our focal point and was surrounded by vintage gold candlesticks. A luscious leafy garland peppered with subtle florals crafted by the talented Delight Floral Design draped down the center of the table. We paired this beautifully with a navy satin linen and charcoal napkins provided by Susan Murray International. Influenced by the presence of the Art Deco era within New Orleans, we selected mirrored plate chargers from Event Rental Group, gold flatware and custom menus designed by our in house team that served as remnants of this period.

The stunning florals incorporated rich jewel tones of burgundy and magenta which were accented with soft blush pink roses and wax flowers. This gave our shoot just the right amount of sophistication and romance. Wanting to include a little bit of the Big Easy cuisine, we used a traditional New Orleans pastry – beignets by Vanilla Lane for our sweet table. The two tier navy cake with delicate handmade blush pink florals looked lovely in front of the lace and gold dipped feather backdrop.

One of the highlights of our trip was witnessing a delightful Second Line wedding march filled with a full band, frilly parasols and a whole ton of 50s flair go down the middle of the French Quarter streets. We based the look of our couple on this experience. Our breathtaking bride wore a gorgeous cap sleeve ivory Theia gown completely embellished with ivory sequins from Sash & Bustle. A charming feather hairpiece was placed effortlessly in her hair which was styled with lovely vintage sapphire earrings. The handsome groom wore a custom classic navy suit from Surmesur Toronto, a crisp white shirt and a dark green polka dot bow tie for an added colourful touch. Our friends at GreenAutumn Photography captured our vision wonderfully and the raw candid moments between our real life couple could not have been more romantic and natural. This timeless, romantic wedding inspiration is perfect for a sophisticated yet fun bride that appreciates the small personal details from a city full of life, love and history.

  • The bride’s gown is simple but elegant while the table setting looks festive…almost Christmas-like in my opinion. I like it. 🙂

  • Can you please tell me all the flowers and their colors in her bouquet? Thank you!
