Wedding Inspiration with Magnolia Leaves and Cotton

Winter brings about some of the prettiest wedding decor, and this styled shoot from Tina Chiou Photography, Styled by TC, and The Bosky Dell is a perfect example. Taking magnolia leaves and blooms, mixing in a bit of cotton, and adding a stunning gown by Catherine Deane from BHLDN, this shoot makes us remember why we’re always excited to see the chillier months roll around.

From the photographer, Tina Chiou: I wanted to create a minimalist, modern with a touch of vintage and eco-friendly. I wanted it to have a wintery feel… so we went with the cool colors of grey, navy, green but also warm with rust and clean with white. The cake is very unique with the calligraphy written on the cake with a quote by John Green in his book The Fault in Our Stars. Can never go wrong with calligraphy! We had a couple different centerpiece designs. I just love the magnolia branch suspended above the lovely couple. It definitely brought nature indoors. You can have the earthy outdoor elements inside!

About the venue, there are so many different corners of the space that provide such a great backdrop for a great wedding. We utilized their black wall in front of the stairs because it emphasized the tablescape and how clean it looks. They had this beautiful exposed brick wall on the other side of the space and it gave an industrial but warm atmosphere. The gown was from BHLDN but designed by Watters and it’s amazing. It’s lightweight but embellished! It gives the illusion of a strapless dress without exposing too much as it has the transparent collar to also keep you secure and slightly warmer. The color of it was perfect! I loved how it worked so well with the rust tones and the bride’s hair.

The floral arrangements were done by The Bosky Dell. She has amazing taste and loves the minimal look. The arrangement with the tall vases had live raw cotton in them. They are still growing to this day! Very eco-friendly. We incorporated magnolia leaves and some faux magnolias. Could you tell?
