Destination Hawaii Wedding at Puakea Ranch

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

Bikini Birdie

Give me a destination wedding in Hawaii any day of the week, and I’m one happy girl. Katie and Julian had family coming in from all around the world, so they wanted to make sure everyone could get to spend some relaxing time getting to know each other and share in their celebration. Thanks to Bikini Birdie, Vintage & Lace, and Grace Flowers for their beautiful work here!

From the bride, Katie: We envisioned something simple and small – neither of us really wanted to feel like the center of a huge amount of attention! We also wanted it to feel more like a family vacation in Hawaii than a wedding, so that our respective families – who came from Seattle, California, Wisconsin and New Zealand – could get to know each other over the course of a few days. Puakea Ranch was the perfect venue for this, because we could all stay at the Ranch together, rather than heading off to separate hotels every night. The venue, on the Big Island of Hawaii, was a beautiful, secluded, historic, luxurious ranch, so the look of the wedding came naturally from that – it was rustic, elegant, and laid-back. I loved blush and gold for colors, so Rachael started there to create the amazing tablescape, with touches of blue and a eucalyptus centerpiece.

Flower recipe: For flowers, we focused on blushes, whites, and creams with accents of coral, including garden roses, peonies, and eucalyptus accents. I wore a bridal lei of white pikake and all the guests had white orchid leis.

Our cute nametags were made by theapothecarybee on Etsy, and we designed our rings ourselves at Green Lake Jewelry Works in Seattle. At the last minute, we put together a cute setup for the guests to throw rice from at the end of the ceremony (picture attached.) But other than that, I didn’t do a lot of DIY – planning the wedding was hard enough :) We did have a good friend as an officiant, my cousin as our bartender, and my sister’s boyfriend DJed and handled the music during the ceremony, so all of that kept it feeling very personal and ‘like us.’

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Nothing groundbreaking – just communicate and be yourselves – do what you think is right for the two of you as a couple. Neither of us are big planners, so if that’s you, I would recommend having a wedding planner. Rachael at Vintage & Lace did an amazing job pulling all the design details together while incorporating my likes and dislikes, which was something I had no clue how to do on my own. I would also say, even though it feels like you have to make every little thing perfect, don’t worry about the small details too much! That’s not the most important thing in the end.

Wedding Music:
Processional: “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” Elvis Presley
Pick songs that remind you of dates, special moments and most importantly for the party, songs that make you want to dance and have a laugh. Other songs, “I Love You Yes I Do” by James Brown and The Famous Flames, Sam Cooke’s “Just for You.” Most of the playlist was 50s rock and roll, 60s soul and late 70s to early 80s indie hits. Warning: people will want to dance to matter how small the wedding, so even if you aren’t planning for dancing, be ready with the hits both classic and modern. We made that mistake and had to scramble and make an emergency dance playlist. It ended up great because the Brooklyn Hustle from Saturday Night Fever became a huge hit – it helped that my dad was an expert at the choreography!

Dia de los Muertos is an inspiring treat all year-round, as you’ll see in this shoot from the talented team of Tamiz Photography, Opihi Love Wedding and Event Design, and Dellables. Everything took place in Maui, Hawaii, adding an extra element of tropical flair to an already colorful and fun-filled shoot. We love the idea of mixing over-sized balloons with various patterns for a real eye-catching display!

From the event designers, Opihi Love Wedding and Event Design: This styled shoot was inspired by COLOR! We noticed we were seeing the same (beautiful) tones of blush and ivory and that we were craving something a bit more bold, edgy and vibrant. We combined our inspiration of color with inspiration of Dia de los Muertos and found the perfect setting at Joe’s Nuevo Latino with their skull inspired decor and colorful food art.

Lavender Big Island Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Today’s wedding just happens to be one of those that feels so relaxed, you just wish you had been there to share in such a special day. Kylie Martin Photography and Bliss in Bloom took the reins on Natalie and Dylane’s wedding day, capturing beautiful scenes in various shades of purple and lush arrangements filled to the brim with roses.

From the bride, Natalie: I really just wanted the wedding to feel elegant and whimsical, Hawaii is so beautiful it wasn’t hard to make that happen! Purple is my favorite color so it was pretty easy to pick the color scheme for the wedding. We went with lots of different shades of purples, some blues, and white accents. When I saw how all the colors came together I was beyond amazed at how well they complimented each other.

Romantic Big Island Hawaii Wedding

Beach Weddings

Is there a better way to kick off #WeddingWednesday than with a Hawaii wedding? We definitely don’t think so. Julie Harmsen Photography, Swept Away Events, and Ainahua Florals all did absolutely amazing jobs, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t give a special little shoutout to the incredible floral design. King Protea and coral charm peonies as far as the eye can see makes for a very good day, indeed.

From the bride, Emily: We knew immediately we would get married on the Big Island, where Brandon is from. I wanted the whole thing to feel as casual as possible. I wanted everyone to feel comfortable and included.

Flower recipe: Peonies, pincushions, some succulents. I wish I could tell you more but the florist did an AMAZING job. Three months later I still have people commenting on photos and saying “OH MY GOD THOSE FLOWERS.”

I love color and flowers so we wanted to make that the priority. You don’t need much else in a setting like the Big Island. I would say adjectives would be: bright, organic, casual. Brandon’s aunt and mom put together the party favors in these adorable bags. Inside was Hawaiian sea salt blend (made by a neighbor) and lilikoi jam (made by a friend whose son was in the hospital. What a saint).

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t take it too seriously. I didn’t really want a wedding but conceded eventually. My husband actually planned the whole thing. And once it was all over I was just so grateful for the experience. All of our friends and family together in one place. There is really nothing better than that. Don’t let the details get in the way of that big picture. No matter what it will be perfect.

I narrowed down the list to about 30 songs for him to pick from. The day he picked that one I saw they were playing here in Atlanta the day before we left for our wedding. So I surprised him with tickets. During the encore to the show, they played it, dedicating it to their friends who got married that weekend. 6 hours later we were on a plane heading to our own wedding. Pretty serendipitous if you ask me.

Bohemian Forest Wedding Editorial in Maui

Wedding Design

If Maui wasn’t on your list of travel destinations before, it will be now. Danielle Poff Photography and Maui’s Angels put together this styled shoot that’s as much of a breath of fresh air as it is inspiring for all you boho lovers out there. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for one incredible floral crown, as well as the breathtaking jewel-toned bouquet with oversized flowers!

From the event designer, Lorrie of Maui’s Angels: We have been dying to do a shoot with the ever so talented Sunya’s flowers and after months and months of trying the stars sure did align. And oh my how they aligned perfectly with Danielle Poff Photography who graced our presence while here on our beautiful island. The theme was more that of an organic bohemian elegance so what better way to embrace this than shooting our gorgeous model, clad in a customized Joelle Perry masterpiece, in the lush forest at the Honolua Bay Reserve?

We enlisted the delectable talents of Cake Fanatics who created the mini naked cakes and chocolate covered desserts. And the masterfully crafted flower hair halo styled perfectly by Satin and Sand Maui? Marvelous! Thank you again to all of our amazing vendors for coming out to play in the forest with us. Destination Hawaiian Wedding at Haiku Mill

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Tamiz Photography

We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring you another wedding from one of our favorite venues, Hawaii’s Haiku Mill. This place is a tropical dream come true, as you’ll see from the images by Tamiz Photography. Throw in some flowers by Dellables Floral Wedding Design and the sweet romance between newlyweds Lisa and Matt, and you’ve got a surefire winner!

sophisticated Hawaiian wedding at Haiku Mill - photo by Tamiz Photography http://ruffledblog.com/sophisticated-hawaiian-wedding-at-haiku-mill

From the bride, Lisa: Matt and I met four years ago on a fortuitous (if not slightly cheesy) Contiki Tour through Southeast Asia. After two short weeks together, and an impromptu trip to Phuket, we knew we had something special. After parting ways, I returned to Canada and Matt to Australia thus beginning our year-long, long distance relationship. After many long hours spent chatting online and over the phone, we decided to take the next step in our relationship and I packed up and moved across the world to Australia. Four years, a couple of moves and a little shaggy fur-baby later and I’m happy to say that we are finally husband and wife.

For Matt and me, our wedding was all about bringing our family and friends together. We decided early on in our relationship that we would get married “somewhere in the middle” and Hawaii fit the bill nicely. Since this would likely be the one time in our lives when all of our loves ones would be in the same place, we wanted to make our wedding an unforgettable experience for everyone. We knew early on in the planning process that we did not want a typical beach wedding and wanted something a little bit more special and unique. After searching through endless wedding blogs and travel sites, I came across a wonderful write-up on unique wedding venues on each island. As soon as I came across Haiku Mill’s website, I knew we’d found “the one”. I immediately sent the link to Matt and my parents and luckily, they had the same reaction that I did. It was as if we had found the place that we didn’t even know that we’d been dreaming of.

Wanting to keep the vibe casual and fun, we decided on a “rustic garden party with hint of country charm” theme. Since Haiku Mill is magical and stunning to begin with, it provided the perfect backdrop for our dream wedding and we only needed a few personal touches to make it ours. As with any good garden party, we knew that flowers would be the most important part of making our theme come alive. After explaining to our planners at Haiku Mill what we wanted (peonies and garden flowers in pops of colour), they paired us up with Dellables. Once we started working with Della and her team, it became clear that they had a very similar aesthetic to what we were after and we were able to leave a lot of the specifics in their capable hands.

Throughout the whole planning process, the team at Haiku Mill were absolutely amazing. They were able to accommodate every request we had and the vendors they worked with were all lovely. We had a very clear vision of what we wanted and they were absolute mind-readers in making everything come together exactly as planned. The day itself was just as we’d imagined – full of love, laughter and fun. Once the sun set and the candles and fairy lights lit the space, everyone felt the magic that we had wanted from the beginning. It was more than we could have asked for and an experience that will not be soon forgotten.

Kate Spade Inspired Wedding in Hawaii

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

Ashley Goodwin

If there are three words that make my heart beat faster, they’re “Kate Spade inspired.” Lauren and Kawika’s wedding was a mixture of the modern designer’s style and carnivals, with heaps of stripes, polka dots, gold, and bright colors thrown in for good measure, and you won’t believe how well everything turned out in the end. Of course, it couldn’t have been done without the talents of vendors Ashley Goodwin, L4Love by Lauren Smith, and Passion Roots, among many others!

Kate Spade Inspired Wedding in Hawaii - photo by Ashley Goodwin http://ruffledblog.com/kate-spade-inspired-wedding-in-hawaii

From the bride, Lauren: I envisioned a colorful, romantic, whimsical wedding inspired by carnivals and Kate Spade. I love the contrast of bold stripes and polka dots with accents of color. Some adjectives that best describe the look of our wedding: whimsical, magical, dreamy. We didn’t really have a color scheme but I wanted accents of black and white stripes and metallic gold dots. The colors really came from the flowers. The reception tables had pink, white and orange hydrangea centerpieces and the head table was filled with large arrangements containing hydrangeas, garden roses and a mixture of pink and orange billowing flowers.

DIY projects include: Lemonade stand that turned into a whiskey bar, table numbers which were a variety of Royal Albert teacups and saucers filled with moss that we collected from our backyard, instead of table runners we used Kate Spade double sided wrapping paper to give the table some texture, I folded all of the napkins into bows (Kate Spade inspired), my dad made the wooden cheese boxes that were used for some of the reception centerpieces, we put together the entire candy bar ourselves, and we made the menu and a lot of the signage used.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t be afraid to share your personal style with your guests; they love you for who you are! Many people told me that certain ideas I had wouldn’t go well together or that it was too much work. I backed off a little at first then realized, it was my wedding so even though my ideas may have seemed crazy, I decided to go for it… and it definitely paid off!

Romantic Maui Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Flying halfway around the world for an unforgettable fairytale celebration? Uh yeah, sign us up right now. Alisha and Rob’s wedding was indeed a Hawaii fairytale come true, trading in the sandy beaches for an elegant, botanical garden event. The incredible team of Tamiz Photography, Mandy Grace Designs, and Haiku Mill worked true wonders here!

Romantic Maui Wedding - photo by Tamiz Photography http://ruffledblog.com/haiku-mill-wedding

From the bride, Alisha: We decided on Hawaii because it made perfect geographical sense as it was half way between our friends and families in Canada and Australia. Neither of us were keen on beach weddings as we wanted a more formal affair that was romantic and elegant but also contemporary and unique. While searching online for wedding venues in Hawaii we stumbled across Haiku Mill in Maui and it was exactly what we were looking for. The majority of our guests were travelling very far distances and we wanted to find a venue where our guests could experience a fairytale celebration they would never forget.

Our colour scheme involved all soft colours – shades of pinks & grey, ivory & gold accents. We had 6 months to plan our wedding so we didn’t have a lot of time for DIY projects. One project we did do was create personalized escort cards. We bought envelopes that were used as escort cards and wrote individual hand written notes inside to all of our guests. This was a big hit as it showed our guests how much they all individually meant to us. Another resource we found really helpful was etsy. It allowed us to have hand crafted touches such as personalized luggage tags as place cards for our guests.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? If planning a destination wedding make sure you hire an event coordinator that knows the quality local vendors very well as you may not have a chance to meet with any of the vendors in person. Also, try your best to find a venue that can accommodate a wide range of guests as you often don’t know your final numbers until a month before. We thought we were going to have 25 guests but ended up with 90 in the end.

Elegant Oahu Wedding

If you think there aren’t many places more stunning to marry in than Hawaii, then you’d be right – just ask the bride and groom from today’s wedding, shot by photographer Austin Gros. The beauty of the day was only heightened by bride Leah’s Ulla-Maija lace wedding gown and protea-filled floral design from Passion Roots.

From the bride, Leah: I wanted to get married on ‘Oahu where I grew up, outside under a big tree, but my husband wanted to get married where he was from in Lincoln, Nebraska in a Catholic church. We compromised and got married on ‘Oahu in a Catholic church and had the reception in a botanical garden. We had our reception at a botanical garden and set up long rows of tables and chairs under a big Monkeypod tree. Besides the lush botanicals, the venue features roaming peacocks, and even a natural waterfall at the end of the property where guests can swim in a postcard-perfect setting. All this fit with our idea of an old world, exotic, nature experience amongst our close family and friends.

With the wedding taking place in Hawai’i at a botanical garden, I pulled together the history of explorer Captain James Cook and our affinity for the natural sciences to create a scene that featured: nautical décor, a vintage globe, antique and aged wood accents, a cake decorated with black pearls, a garland made out of their oyster shells, and lush natural looking centerpieces. Together with the blush, nude, grey and gold color scheme, one’s imagination could’ve described the whole scene as a garden party, thrown by Captain Cook’s wife with things collected from the ship and garden. A real eclectic, whimsical mix that added to the botanical ambiance.

The surroundings and flower decorations were important to my husband and I, as I am a biologist and my husband an entomologist. Naturally, this part of the wedding planning was a big deal. When one works in the flower industry it is actually quite difficult to narrow down your favorites. All I could commit to was a King Protea in my bridal bouquet. The flower seemed to go with the large bloom featured in the lace in my dress. Plus, the protea held a special meaning – centered around a beetle pollination expedition to Cape Town, South Africa’s Kirstenboch Botanical Gardens with my bridesmaid, Cari.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? People will invite themselves. So, have a response prepared like, “We are still working on the guest list.” This lets them know not to be presumptuous in a polite way. Remember to say thank you to those who have helped you. On the day of your wedding, empty your mind of any expectations; of how things should look, etc. Just like clearing cache on a computer. The void of expectations will help you maintain joy throughout the day and not get bothered by the things that don’t work out the way you planned; all the while helping you to remember that this is a party you’ve planned and to focus on the fact that you will be spending your life together. Wait a week or two before you leave for your honeymoon, because you will be exhausted after your wedding is done. Waiting will help you enjoy it better and be more willing to explore the wherever you go, rather than staying in the hotel the whole time. Unless that’s all you want to do, in which case don’t go anywhere far or expensive – just spend it all on a super luxurious hotel room.

Hawaiian Island Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

Pat Furey

Any wedding captured by Pat Furey is going to be something pretty special, but when that wedding is in Hawaii? I die. Zeny and Sean kept their big day simple yet playful, colorful, and full of fun details like lion dancers, flower crowns, and marquee letters.

hawaiian wedding ideas

From the bride, Zeny: The style and feel I decided on was simple, playful, colorful, young and clean. Sean and I had a modest budget to work with so simple and clean felt practical and matched our laid back personalities. We wanted the day to be fun and joyous, to be about family and friends and the beauty of our Hawaiian surroundings.

My wedding was colorful, fun and clean. I choose to make white my base color because it would contrast with the lush green backdrop of our venue Sunset Ranch and match my vision for a clean and simple wedding. I accented the white with fun, playful colors like silver and shades of pink and yellow. All the decorations and flowers at my wedding was arranged or made by myself, friends and family. I went into my wedding expecting a lot of DIY-ing because I wanted the decorations to feel personal and to save money. Since Sean and I met at a carnival, my talented brother Zack made these 4-foot wooden, light-up carnival-inspired “Z” and “S” letters that we used during our ceremony. My mom and aunt arranged all the flowers, from my floral crown to the bouquets and the table arrangements. My close high school friend baked my two-tier ombre pink wedding cake. My grandma made my veil. The day of and the days leading up to my wedding was an effort of love by my husband and I, our families and our friends. The day felt magical because everything came together beautifully and I couldn’t be more grateful to be surrounded by so much love.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? In some ways, Sean and my lack of knowledge about weddings was a blessing because we truly created a wedding based on our personalities and what we felt was important. We did not do things like a grooms cake, champagne toast or day of gifts to each other because 1) we didn’t know those things existed until later, and 2) it didn’t fit within our budget. However, we did want to include our family in the celebration and had a lei ceremony for our parents and grandparents, my cousin played the piano for our procession and my younger brother performed a traditional Chinese lion dance. Wedding planning can be overwhelming when you are doing it yourself and I think the best advice for couples planning now is to have a clear vision of your priorities and what’s the thing you want to enjoy most at your wedding. Once you’ve figured out what’s important it makes it easy to say “no” to things that aren’t at the top of the list. For Sean and me, the most important thing was the company of each other and our friends and family and we chose a venue and activities to keep the pace of the day manageable for socializing and an open bar to keep the energy high.

Hawaiian Holiday Inspiration Shoot

Wedding Design

Photos by:

We’re starting our roll into the winter season, which means Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas is on repeat in my iTunes these days. Add our favorite season with one of the best places on earth, and this styled shoot is brought to fruition by Opihi Love and Tamiz Photography. A holiday shoot with bohemian styling from Hawaii? Say no more, I’m officially sold!

bohemian wedding decor

From the stylist, Melissa of Opihi Love: Hawaii is such a little slice of heaven on earth — beaches, sand, sunsets, we have it all! It’s when you find hidden gems like a Eucalyptus Forest, and fields of protea, you realize just what Maui has to offer. Although our leaves don’t change color, on the side of Haleakala Crater in upcountry Maui we created our luxe version of a Holiday Photo Shoot. Inspired by beautiful fabrics, warming colors and nod to nature, Tamiz Photography captured the shoot as if we were high in the mountains of Oregon.

Utilizing our surroundings the shoots flowers designed and created by Opihi Love Boutique Rentals & Event Design brought in eucalyptus, protea, kale, and pussy willows. Deep reds, greens, and purples were our feature colors. It’s such a breath taking moment when the sun is setting perfectly, the bride is stunning, and the setting provides you with one-of-a-kind photographs. This is what Maui gave us for this styled shoot.

Colorful Maui Wedding

Beach Weddings

We’re happy to see signs of fall popping up all over the place (pumpkin lattes!), but today’s wedding from Wendy Laurel is making us miss summer just a tad — how could you not look at this beautiful day and wish you were in the warmth of Hawaii’s sands? Add on some chevron table runners, ombre napkins, and some amazing pinks and corals and we’re counting down the days until next summer!

maui wedding locations

From the bride, Krista: We decided on Maui because we both really wanted to do a destination wedding, and Hawaii seemed like the dream spot to do it in! I had fond memories of a childhood vacation to Oahu and my fiancee had never been, plus we avoided any worries of hurricane season in the Caribbean. The best thing we did once we decided on a location was to find a wedding planner. I knew I wanted someone who would be organized and knowledgeable about the location-since I certainly had no idea about locations or vendors.

For the bridal party, I did my best to keep things simple. I had each of my bridesmaids pick one shade of the pinks/oranges I had chosen from paint swatches, and asked them to find a knee length dress that they liked in that color. It was the simplest way to wrangle dress selections since everyone was scattered across the country, and everyone loved the dresses they wore! We also made sure to rent a beach house for the week before the wedding where our entire bridal party (and us!) could stay to really hang out. Some people we hadn’t seen in years, so it was a really great vacation in addition to a wedding.

The one thing I did to make my destination wedding feel more real to me was to have an active hand in finding the decor for the ceremony and reception. I ordered the table runners, drink straws, and origami drink stirrers off of Etsy, and had them delivered to my house so I could see them before the day of the wedding. I also really liked the ombre dinner napkins I had seen on Pinterest, so decided to DIY them myself. It was awesome to go into my wedding day not really knowing how all the details would come together. I tried to leave as much as possible to the wedding planner. It really cut down on any stress I might have felt about little details being wrong — I had no idea what “right” would have looked like!

Bohemian Hawaiian Wedding

Some how-you-met stories we only hear in the movies. Or so you would think if I told you the bride and groom from this gorgeous destination wedding were neighbors. Living in Portland, Tani lived right next door to Daniel. They decided to have an intimate wedding in Honolulu partly because Tani’s family is from there, partly because Daniel’s family was small. Everything was DIYed by them, and set up with the help of Tani’s family – including the flowers! So they booked Ashley Camper to capture their Hawaii wedding at the The Bayer Estate. Tani’s vintage Valentino and her cap veil crowned by a rhinestone halo is probably our favorite bridal look to date!

From the groom, Dan: We did most of the planning and decorations ourselves — very much a DIY wedding. We wanted a “Midsummer Night’s Dream”/enchanted forest meets Victorian theme for the wedding. It was pretty hard to achieve that here on Oahu, so we imported most of the decor from Portland, OR.

This wedding is dreamy, beachy and vintage glam altogether. What’s not to love about it? Big thanks to the talented ladies over at Lollipop Events and Designs for sharing this wedding with us and to Christie Pham Photography for the beautiful photos! Feather bouquet by The Diamond Willow and gorgeous flowers by Dellables florist in Maui.

Instead of a traditional cake table we placed dainty cupcakes onto vintage dishes and filled drawers with brightly colored taffy and clusters of flowers. Behind the dessert table hung a perfectly placed sleepy tree, which served to hang candle lighting from for a romantic effect.

To design a Hawaiian wedding off the beaten path is not easy task, and Canvas and Canopy Events did it beautifully. I just can’t stop swooning over these images! The fresh color palette and vintage elements look like they were made for each other on this wedding. Photos by Honolulu wedding photographer Christie Pham, whose website is a must see for brides planning a Hawaii wedding!

From Cortnie from Canvas and Canopy Events:
Ombre hand dyed runners inspired from the couture resort collections of the Paris runways faded from bright blue, to light aqua to sea foam green and blended into the backdrop of the sparkling sea. Chandeliers swayed above the tables were also hand dyed in a palette of light blues and greens made from cotton fabric with raw edges, knotted and strung with crystals sparkling throughout. A floral crown was placed on top of each chandelier resembling a woodland fairy. Since we did not want to go the traditional Hawaiian wedding route and create chandeliers from leis of orchids- this was our softer and more custom interpretation. Each chandelier was up-lit and glowing by the time the sun started to set.

We wanted to incorporate the rest of the peacock feel in a non-literal way with the ruffles of the curtain swaying behind the soda bar, the pattern of the brocade napkins which resembled the outline of the peacock monogram, and the color palettes which consistently faded from dark to light throughout the event.

Vanessa from Lollipop Events and Designs shares how they designed the reception and more brilliant details on this beautiful Maui wedding…

The bridal bouquet made out of bleached peacock feathers added drama and high fashion flair to the brides stunning strapless gown. We incorporated the bleached peacock feathers of the bridal bouquet into the event design by placing a feather at each table setting upon a brightly colored pineapple brocade printed napkin, hand sewn with ivory fringe. Flowers were placed in various shaped mercury vessels amidst tall candelabras. Soft peach and pink peonies seemed to float above the silvery mercury vases, which contrasted off of the hand dyed aqua hued table runners.

The Diamond Willow created the custom feather bouquet and flowers were from Dellables Florist in Maui. Photos by Christie Pham Photography.

Before entering the ceremony area guests were greeted by a table draped in a soft pink couture linen covered with bubbly filled champagne glasses for guests to sip on during the ceremony. Perched next to the glasses was a sign that said “champagne kisses”.

I diiiiieeeed when the crazy talented ladies over at Lollilop Events and Designs sent over this amazing vintage inspired Hawaiian wedding they designed for their clients a few months ago. I love every single wedding they create, and was over the moon when this one landed in my inbox! The couple got married in Maui, and asked them to incorporate elements of peacocks into their special day. Photos by Christie Pham Photography.

Vanessa from Lollilop Events and Designs says:
Instead of going the traditional jewel tone route, we wanted to soften the palette and use light pastels and bleached peacock feathers for a more subdued underlying effect rather than an obvious peacock theme. The only obvious display of peacocks was visible on the monogram of the invitations and the custom printed canvas gift bags.

For the ceremony site we wanted to maintain the simplicity of the sea filled backdrop and the rustic dried out palm frond pergola. We hung clusters of tight roses dripping with unexpected strands of pearls. A crystal chandelier majestically glittered against the backdrop of the expansive ocean and setting sun. Vintage frames were propped against the rustic archway and covered with moss and flowers as an inviting entrance to the alter under which they said “I Do!” in the romantic setting of tropical perfection.

The brides’ childhood friend was kind enough to write a poem for the couple’s special day. We were so inspired by the time and love put into the poem, we asked her to send us the original handwritten copy. We then made beautiful copies onto our custom design bridal letterhead and passed out to guests in lieu of traditional programs.
