Maine Summer Camp Wedding Ideas
No matter how many years go by, every time summer comes along I can’t help but think back to my times spent at summer camp. Crafting, sunshine, and camaraderie — in other words, perfect wedding inspiration! Anne Schmidt Photography and Daisies and Pearls put together this shoot to highlight the beauty of Maine’s grounds, which we can easily see through these images taken at Camp Wildwood.
From the photographer, Anne Schmidt Photography: The design team and I were inspired to do a shoot that was based on this trend that we see popping up all over Maine and that is holding your wedding at a summer camp. We envisioned canoes on the lake, seasonal foods and flowers, very woodsy and tranquil. We really wanted to emphasize how easily you could locally source most of this and some of it could even be DIY. A bride with a green thumb or access to lovely, spring or summer blooms might even be able to create arrangements like this herself or with the help of a friend. So much of this shoot was eco-friendly, seasonal, locally sourced and natural….all the things we love about Maine to prove that you CAN throw a wedding that is stylish AND earth friendly. All of the blooms for the shoot came directly from the designers own garden!
The entire invitation suite is playful, just like going to camp. It was made with thick, eco-friendly, 100% cotton stock accompanied by recycled paper-bag envelopes. It was the perfect centerpiece to the entire thing to tie in that camp feel. At one point during the planning, Sarah, the designer, found a photo of these DIY, lace teepees! They were gorgeous and she knew she had to make one. The pink lace teepee became a beautiful backdrop for our bridal portraits and fit perfectly in our wooded scene by a bubbling brook.
We did two different looks, the first very sweet and elegant. Flowing hair, a tulle dress, jeweled head piece, a whimsical, seasonal bouquet of delicate flowers and a dessert table to go crazy for! The second look was woodsy and ethereal, with a moss covered table scape and a bride with braided hair and floral head wreath. This shoot is a beautiful side to Maine that not a lot of people think of when we’re so known for the coast, ocean weddings, lobsters and blueberries. This showcases something a little different, which is what we love about this shoot. And we hope you love it too!
