Handcrafted Fall Wedding
Nothing quite perks up our day like when we receive a wedding from one of our very own brides, except maybe when that bride used one of our DIY tutorials for her wedding decor. Ashley and Conor wanted a whimsical and eclectic wedding day, and a backdrop of DIY paper wheels helped send them on that path! Katie Ruther Photography did a brilliant job capturing the day, so let’s get started:
From the bride, Ashley: Our vision for our wedding was to encompass both of our personalities. We wanted it to be whimsical and eclectic. As cliche as it sounds, we wanted this wedding to capture our love. I know, I know… cheesy, but it is so true. Our colors were ivory, navy blue, and gold. We didn’t stick to one solid thing. We saw what we liked and we went with it!
We DIY’d everything. Downtown Los Angeles became my best friend. My mom and I spent hours working on everything, but in the end, it not only saved us a ton of money, it was way more personal. We made the back drop. We bought two pieces of fencing from Lowe’s, constructed stands, made some paper windmills, and hung some material between. We also did all of our own bouquets. We bought a ton of flowers from the LA flower market and each bridesmaid got to make their own personalized bouquet. My favorite accent that we made were all of our gold dipped feathers. We purchased mass amounts of ivory and white feathers, dipped the tips in gold paint and covered them in gold glitter. They were the best accessory! They were in the bouquets and flower arrangements on the tables.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Enjoy the engagement process! It is such an awesome time. Although it can be stressful and full of anxiety, it is something that you will never be able to get back. You have forever to be married, enjoy being engaged right now! Make sure to go on date nights (that don’t include wedding planning). In the end, remember the reason you are working so hard!
