Nautical Chic Wedding Inspiration
Autumn is showing its true colors across the nation now and we couldn’t be happier, but even the greatest lover of fall would have to admit this shoot from Unearthed Vintage and Michelle March makes them long for the days of summer again. Fusing chic sophistication with a love of all things nautical — including a tongue-in-cheek nod to “tying the knot” — this styled shoot is a surefire hit in our books!
A few words from Katie of Unearthed Vintage: Living so close to the water, nautical inspirations are around us on a daily basis. I have always loved the traditional look behind nautical decor, so much so that my husband Jovan and I got matching anchor tattoos. I was truly inspired by the natural beauty that the beach has to offer. I love where the beach grass meets the sand, and where the sand meets the water, creating amazing sand bars and designs with no effort. All of these beautiful things in nature come together to make for a perfect backdrop.
I wanted to create something that added a twist to traditional nautical decor that added to the beauty that the beach has to offer. After sharing my visions with Michelle March Photography, she helped bring it all to life. We chose to combine a few traditional pieces like the life saver, buoys, pulleys, and lantern, with a few unexpected pieces, our canary wharf carreta as a signature drink table, nautical rope and driftwood crafted together as a ceremony backdrop, bright fun polka dot napkins, and a deep red tufted settee right on the sand for a fun photo op for our couple.
The look would not have been complete without the beautiful floral design of Julia Rohde Designs, or the icing-less red velvet cake on an oak barrel cake table. On the day of the shoot, I couldn’t help but be inspired by our beautiful couple with amazing chemistry, and the amazing team of vendors who made this all possible, especially after battling a morning of torrential rain and high winds.
