Mammoth Lakeside Wedding
Today’s wedding from Braedon Flynn is just… beyond. Beyond chic, beyond gorgeous, and beyond creative. Bride Alexandra Works began planning her wedding with fiancé Anthony, only to find “the wedding was starting to plan us instead of vice versa” — so they shifted their vision to something more befitting of their personalities, and ended up with the incredible wedding you see here. Don’t miss the end-of-day video from The Cana Family!
From the bride, Alexandra: Finding the venue was the toughest decision for us, but thankfully we decided destination wedding was the way to go. We wanted our special day to be more of an experience for guests rather than a one day event. We originally started planning our LA wedding when we realized the wedding was starting to plan us instead of vice versa. I grew up vacationing in Mammoth Mountain and Anthony and I started going a few times a year whether it be during the winter to snowboard, cozy up next to a fire and play scrabble, or fish, hike or golf in the spring/summer months. We love being outdoors, escaping the hustle and bustle of our LA lifestyle and really appreciating what mother earth has to offer. Mammoth Lakes could not have been a better fit for us and our nature loving, outdoors-y crew. Some guests skied and snowboarded while others hiked by the lake or hung out poolside.
Having studied visual communications and graphic design, I was fortunate enough to be able to print everything off my Epson printer – couldn’t live without it. I am a huge nerd for paper goods and hand crafts, and was so excited with how our invites really captured my style. From day one of planning, I knew I wanted to incorporate burlap, white tones and precious metals into our overall theme. I envisioned what one calls a ‘rustic chic’ vibe… natural yet glamorous. My mom so graciously sewed vintage lace onto the borders of the burlap table runners (these are for sale!).
It was important for me to provide guests with easy access to water (I drink a ton), so I made the table numbers into bottle labels. I loved how the vintage prayer cards turned out – I bought these cards at Michaels and put stickers on the back – super easy! One of the most fun DIY projects was picking out 200 different vintage hankies with girlfriends at a swap meet. Not to worry we had them dry cleaned! They turned out to be beautiful once pressed with our wedding monogram embroidered on each hankie. Guests were excited to receive a welcome/thank you crate with some snacks and goodies along with a weekend itinerary. We can’t tell you how many people were so grateful they had a snack on hand once arriving after long travel.
I still cannot believe it SNOWED! Mammoth weather is always unpredictable, but it was 80 degrees the week before in the high sierras. Waking up to snow falling on the big day was pretty spiritually moving, not to mention insanely gorgeous. It was majestic. It doesn’t get better than repeating our vows to one another in front of our closest friends, family and God. That moment will forever make my heart melt and knees go weak. Best decision hands down – hiring our talented photographer and videographers. They outdid themselves and we have the proof for life. Just thinking about the Cana Family’s wedding preview being played at the reception gives me the chills.
We still get a kick out of our Jenga guest book (each guest wrote whatever their heart desired on a wooden block). Etsy! We’ve played almost every week since the wedding and it’s so fun to read guests’ hilarious creativity. I absolutely loved our cake! I knew I wanted something a little out of the box with more of a homemade feel – Sue Ebersold blew our guests away with yumminess! We loved our big wooden farm tables and benches with no linens. This made our burlap runners, garland, peonies and eclectic plates by https://casadeperrin.com/ to really come together beautifully. Our DJ Kacey Campbell really knows how to get a crowd going. Another great decision was to invite all guests to dance before dinner had begun. This got the entire party on their feet literally jumping with excitement. We are quite an intense dance crew, but we’d recommend kicking off your reception with a few top dance songs to get the mood flowing.

everything about this wedding is absolutely magical…the team behind the scenes got it done!
oh wow – absolutely stunning!
how funny that two posts in a row have identical (and gorgeous) shoes!!
I love the water bottle table numbers, I’ve been looking for a way to incorporate them into something useful. Thanks for sharing and congratulations!
Costume, shooting style and wedding preview is really touching.
This wedding is one that is completely unforgettable…the kind of dreaminess that stays with you…ethereal and extraordinary.
The photography is exquisite…and then the “It had to be you” banner just almost made we weep! Seriously romantic.
THIS is exactly why I love to do what I do. Making bridal jewelry and hair combs that become a part of such wonderful memories…bits of vintage sparkle to soak up the wonder of two people deeply in loves…pieces to last a lifetime.
Many Blessings to you both.
Wow, as I was scrolling through the photos, it suddenly hit me–that is the same dress I’m getting married in next February!
I am anxiously awaiting it’s arrival from Romona Kaveza, so it was really fun to see it on this beautiful bride. I have not seen it on anyone else, and so it was really a thrill to see how beautifully it photographs. We both see to be vintage-minded brides. The incredible lace on this dress is just gorgeous. One of a kind.
I hope this dress brings me as much love, happiness, and blessings as it looks like it has brought you… congratulations!!!
I love the style of this wedding. It has a nice natural, earth tones type of feel to it and you can see that it has been carried through out. Gorgeous!
Gorgeous Something Blue – Brides stunning blue shoes – what a fab detail.
Whimsical!! I simply love the gorgeous vintage touches of the burlap and lace. I found the blue socks and heels detail to be especially adorable!!
Absolutely lovely pictures-stunning. I love the shrug- can anyone help me find one similar?x
This was one of our favorite weddings of the year – from the moment we started planning, we knew it was going to be one for the books!! Their love is amazing, as was the couple’s creativity…we are so honored to be a part of this amazing vendor team!
This was so lovely. 5/26 is day that will always live in my memory. Now it has a gorgeous memory attached to it. May God continue to bless you both always.
Wonderful location and really pretty wedding!
How do I find the stationary as shown in this blog? It’s beautiful! I’d really love to do something like this for my wedding… I look forward to hearing from you!
