English Garden Wedding Inspiration

While this inspiration shoot was done in California, we can’t help but note the English garden charm oozing from every image. We love the vintage elements — from the vintage silver teapots, trophies and vases to the skeleton keys — mixed in with whimsical details, like the bronze bunny rabbits and the doily wedding invitations. A huge thanks goes out to Suzanne Hansen and Mike Ofeldt of She Wanders for sending this shoot our way; and to Jennifer Nesovic for designing; Katherine Farley for the amazing flowers…everyone who were a part of it. Especially to the little girl, who we think may have stolen the show!

From Jennifer Nesovic, the event stylist: One of my favorite books as a girl was “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Of course, I was never satisfied with any of the made for TV movie remakes and wanted to imagine a wedding partially taken from my memories of the tale, but woven together with bits of other stories and smatterings of ideas. Skeleton keys, tea parties, and wallpaper roses first came to mind… but somehow meandered into garden creatures and pot bellied pigs… (perhaps a little dash of Charlotte’s Web?). But the little pig that we planned on using somehow had grown to be a big pig and our cute little pig dreams were dashed. Don’t worry, the pig and many other little garden creatures were represented along with dreamy flowers, gorgeous silver silk shantung linens, and handmade paper flowers.

  • Can anyone tell me what they grey/blue little balls in the flowers are? I am desperate to find out!

  • I absolutely love the paper flower garlands! I’m thinking of designing a 1 yr anniversary shoot and this would be a perfect idea to use for inspiration! The florals are beyond…

  • Flowers and table setting are gorgeous. Love how romantic it feels.

  • Absolutely gorgeous!!!

The yellow version of the grey/blue flowers are called “Billy Balls” (Craspedia Globosa officially), I hope that can help you find them!

  • Love it! Anyone know where that adorable flower girl dress is from??

  • Love the paper garlands as well. Were they purchased or hand made?

  • I love the details! Very garden chic. I guess everyone is inspired by the royal wedding 🙂

  • Thanks everyone!! This shoot was so so much fun. Courtney made the paper flowers and I’ll ask her where she got the sweet flower girl dress. I’ll ask Katherine about the grey balls and get back to you 🙂

  • I am so excited you featured our “dreamy” inspiration shoot on your lovely inspiring blog! YAY! Thanks so much….xoxo Jennifer Nesovic of Jen Likes Weddings …

  • Lea & Sarah,

The “paper garlands” were actually from an amazing light fixture we bought at Urban Outfitters a million years ago and re-purposed…Thankfully my hoarding comes in handy quite often…There were also a lot of lovely handmade flowers by Brightly Designed…Planted around our “Garden”
The chair backs were actually strung with a really delicate antique white lace…

    xoxo

  • Hi guys! Sorry for the late reply. So happy you liked the flowers! The little grey ball are called silver brunia. The green version of them is called berzillia.

  • Wow, this is stunning! It’s just so delicate and inspiring. Suzanne and Mike have such an eye…love this! Those balls are silver brunia. They’re really fun to incorporate into bouquets and timeless designs. What a fresh shoot! {Can you tell we love it?}

  • Suzanne and Mike have a unique ability to capture a person’s essence in a photo. I am so excited to be using them for my wedding!!!

  • Thanks everyone. I especially loved the little figurines. The snail won my heart. I felt really proud that all the elements came together so well. Every piece built on each other and caused so much joy and laughter in the models faces. Seriously how cute are those girls!!

  • The photos of the flowers are amazing! I love when you guys focus on an object and yet the background elements are still beautiful. The composition of the photos are perfect!

  • Hi,
Beautiful flowers. Can you please tell me the name of the white flowers that have the light green berry like center? I think you can see them best in the photo of the bouquet on the silver cake plate.

  • This is a gorgeous shoot! Can you tell me what the fabric draped frame over the table in the third picture is? I cannot find anything comparable, but I would like to do something similar for my wedding reception.
