A Darling Handcrafted Wedding
This backyard wedding shot by Goodnickels Photography is absolutely darling! The bride’s mother handcrafted many of the details, including Ali’s incredible bouquet. It is made out of ribbon and rickrack, and is so sweet and unique. What a special memento to treasure and pass down to future generations!
More from the bride, Ali:
When I was planning our wedding I envisioned a sweet, homemade, backyard wedding. I wanted to incorporate handmade things with my vintage favorites.
My mom is so talented. She made my bouquet (out of rickrack and ribbon), the ring pillow, the flower girl dress, the favors (the owls and robots), the favor boxes, the cake topper, the boutonnieres, the antique game pieces, centerpieces, and the table runners.
We looked at a few venues, but couldn’t find the right fit. A friend offered up his backyard and we thought, perfect!
My sister was in charge of the flowers. That day she went to a local farmers market and purchased a variety of flowers. The mix of flowers looked great.
My advice for planning a wedding is to stay organized. My sister made me a wedding planning book. I kept ideas, inspiration, websites, pictures, etc. in it. It kept me on track and organized. It made it easier to tie everything together and now I have a amazing scrapbook of my wedding memories.

– Silje
Hi Silje, You can find the cake topper here. Hope this helps!
ooh, so artsy fartsy! love that.
who did the illustrations on the gift boxes? SO CUTE!
Did your sister make your bouquet, also? It’s spectacular! Neither of my daughters is even engaged but, by golly, I’m getting started on some ribbon flowers just in case. Your wedding was so beautiful I admire your use of nature and not fluff.
I wish I were your mom. Did she already know how to make all the things she created for your wedding? She’s an amazing woman!!!!
That bouquet is beautiful! My husband and I are renewing our vows in April and this is great inspiration for our simple vintage chic ceremony.
Is it possible to get in touch with the bride or her mother? The ribbon bouquet is amazing! I would love to learn how to make one, or see if the mother would make one to sell!
