Whimsical Garden Wedding Inspiration at Vermont Estate
Our hearts are all aflutter for this lush garden wedding styled shoot in Vermont. Beautifully designed by Events by Sorrell with peach and blue hues, this sun-kissed wedding is perfect for anytime of year. I mean come on, just look at the stunning floral arrangements by Emily Herzig Floral Studio on the cutest little getaway car. We’ll take one of those plus the way the groom looks at his bride. Honestly, that’s how we look at cake so enough said, right?
From the photographer, Kate Preftakes: North Mowing Estate is a 230-acre estate in Springfield, Vermont. The property’s nine buildings are arranged on a series of stone terraces which take advantage of expansive views of rural hayfields, Mt. Ascutney, and the Connecticut River Valley. The first owner of the property was Horace Brown, Vermont State Senator, Artist and Mapmaker. The landscaping and gardens were created by Ellen Biddle Shipman, who also designed St. Gauden’s gardens in New Hampshire.
This styled shoot was shot at a historic estate in Vermont and was inspired by the large birdcage that sits prominently in the center of the garden. As weddings can be full of symbolism, we were reminded of Alfred Tennyson’s poem To A Skylark that elevates the bird beyond its corporeal self and is a “blithe spirit” from which its full heart pours.
Emily Herzig Floral Studio worked with the colors found all around the property and created a pallet that complimented the peaches, blues and yellows. She sourced delicate fresh flowers from local flower farms to create the most gorgeous florals. Her cascading bridal bouquet worked perfectly with the bride’s Jenny Yoo gown and the groom’s boutonniere used Lily of the Valley which was growing all around the property.
Events by Sorrell designed the lush table beginning with velvet gray La Tavola Fine Linen tablecloths with peach patterned napkins. She layered glass and silver plates with vintage glassware, hand dipped beeswax candles, zero back chairs and finally peach throw blankets for the guests. Jaime from Autumn Nomad, Cakes & Cafe used the historic painted pastel frescoe on the property as inspiration for her hand painted cakes and we even added real birds to the display!
North Mowing will be hosting a limited number of exclusive weddings on their property and our team jumped at the chance to photograph a styled shoot there! The rock walls, historic painted murals, and grand vistas make this property a perfect background for a lush garden party wedding.
Now have you ever thought about bringing the garden indoors? We sure have! This indoor garden wedding is perfect for a stunning wedding with our favorite element, air conditioning!
