Beautiful Portland Wedding
From sunny California to Portland, Oregon! Ryan of You Look Nice Today Photography sent over this beautiful intimate fete, complete with an adorable church and outstanding imagery. Monica’s darling vintage wedding dress belonged to her mother, who wore the dress 30 years ago when she married her father.
From the bride, Monica:
We knew we wanted a small wedding, one that felt very from the heart and personal. We wanted it to feel like a joyful celebration of life and love, and not just of each other, but of the people in our lives who we love and cherish. We wanted to be able to talk to and spend time with our guests, which was very possible with our small guest list of 35!
We were very inspired by our city, Portland, which is full of nature and is very classic, vintage and modern at the same time. Our wedding was inspired by spring, and very much by the pink WOW of the dogwood blossoms!
Our ceremony location, the Oaks Pioneer Church https://www.oakspioneerchurch.org/home.htm in Portland, we happened to check out on a whim when my parents were visiting, and the little white chapel (built in 1851!) was so perfect for the intimate ceremony we wanted. The warm wood paneled walls, stained glass and details like the organ and wood stove made it feel very cozy, warm, and inviting.
We spent a lot of time thinking and talking about our ceremony, reading passages and poems, and our loving ceremony officiant brought so many good suggestions to us. Our ceremony was really true to who we are, and included the people who attended our wedding. We really wanted it to feel like a threshold we were crossing, into a new commitment to each other in a marriage.
We were so in love with our flowers that we even brought some of them along on our honeymoon!
My wedding dress was vintage, last worn by my mother 30 years ago when she was 19 and married my Dad! The dress carried special sentiment and good luck, since my parents celebrated 30 years of marriage this year!
For our reception, we knew we wanted GOOD LOCAL FOOD!! We knew Wildwood Restaurant was amazing, and it clicked when we found out that they have private rooms that would accommodate the size party we had! The food was incredible, and Wildwood is a must eat if you are in Portland!
Some advice from Monica:
Enjoy the planning, and know that when the day comes it will be beautiful and euphoric!
