This 10 Year Romance Blossomed Into an Urban Bougainvillea Wedding
An explosion of all things pink. A modern wedding bar with signature drinks named after Pitbull songs. A 10 year romance that blossomed (quite literally) into an urban bougainvillea wedding! Ashley and Bobby’s chic nuptials is magic in every sense of the word. We don’t want to be dramatic, but their indoor garden ceremony just might change your life.
Kelly of Wild Whim has us whisked into a fairytale with her captures from the day. So much lovey-dovey joy between these two! It’s infectious.
Ruffled Member, LB Events is dynamite in the world of event design. Always wowing us with their creative twists on tradition and personal touches.
Another one of our own, Best Day Ever Floral Design has us questioning gravity with the loose tangle of bougainvillea flowers that seem to be suspended in mid-air.
Truth be told, Carondelet House can’t be beat for an intimate, laidback wedding day ambiance. Built in the 1920’s to mimic an Italian villa, it’s got some serious urban flair today.
From the bride, Ashley: It was 2005 — I had just started college while Bobby was focusing on photography. During my first week of class, I was invited to a birthday party in the Inland Empire. The thought of traveling over an hour to an area of California I had never visited sounded dreadful. Begrudgingly I went. Little did I know that a grungy young man sitting quietly in the corner would change my life forever. He managed to win me over with a bit mystery, a lot humor and some weird balloon tossing. Something clicked and we shared our first kiss on the stairs of his apartment. After exchanging numbers, that magical night ended.
Fringe GOALS! We love the soft hair styling from Timesha Christian that shows off the light-hearted personality of this California bride.
Bobby and I spent the following years growing up together. We became best friends and each other’s creative inspirations. We overcame obstacles, learning to love hard and fight even harder for that love. We created a home together in Los Angeles. Here, Bobby learned that “his” side of the sink really meant “her” side. I learned that 6am on Saturdays meant the start of a daylong event called, “Soccer Day”. Most importantly we shared our families with each other. I now had a family that loved me in Rialto, and Bobby had a family that loved him in Signal Hill.
Bobby and I dated for nearly a decade until one warm California Christmas when Bobby got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Through tears I said yes, grabbing the engagement ring out of the box before he could slip it onto my finger. It had been 10 years, I was ready!
We always wanted an intimate, unique, love-filled wedding with delicious food! To be honest, we were all over the place design-wise, but somehow it magically came together in the most perfect way (thanks Kiersten & LB Events!). Our only motto was to choose things that made us happy, like postcards for our guestbook, signature drinks named after Pitbull songs, gemstones and an indoor bougainvillea garden!
Our florist, Annie, was a dream and really brought everything together for us! We tasked her with transforming our ceremony room into a luscious bougainvillea and vine filled space and boy, did she nail it. We were also blessed with a Maid of Honor who had the best eye for design and helped to create all of our signage, menus and name cards. There is not one thing I would have changed on this day. It was the most special and beautiful day and truly felt like us.
With mismatched chairs and a farmhouse table from A Rental Connection , this reception continues to build with character!
We all have our reasons for dancing like no one’s watching. And in this case, ours would be the epic entertainment courtesy of Ruffled wedding pro, Dart DJ.
All that glitters is gold! Well technically our eyes are what’s glittering after looking at this delish gold-bedecked confection from Sweet Lady Jane. So much pretty in A+B’s day!
