Southern Charm Wedding
If “classic Southern wedding” were an entry in the dictionary, this wedding would surely provide the accompanying picture. There are so very many heartwarming family moments and such lush surroundings… Thanks to the incredible Heidi of Our Labor of Love for sending this party our way!
From the bride, Kristen: We live in North Carolina, which is away from all of our family and friends in Georgia. So we wanted a little bit of a smaller wedding (exactly 100 guests), but do a whole wedding weekend. Everyone stayed at Barnsley Gardens in their own private cottage throughout the weekend. Due to the beautiful, but slightly more rustic nature of our venue, we decided we wanted an old southern charm feel– we called it vintage romance with elegance.
Our wedding was soft, romantic, nature, vintage, southern. Aspects in the wedding that reflected those adjectives were: the primary color was pewter–it is classic and worked perfectly with the morning coat tuxedos the groom and groomsmen wore. But it was the color incorporated into the beautiful china used at all the place settings and the tons and tons of mercury glass candles and vases; we did a lot of DIY: We put together our ancestor table with lots of different pewter and silver “found frames” over the year of planning. We also did our Table Seating Chart in 10 different large, old silver frames (each table had it’s own frame).
Blogs! There are so many unique ideas out there, that I could not stop searching the blogs and coming up with more ideas to be incorporated into my own wedding. What makes a wedding great are the unique, personal touches–searching blogs and seeing the other unique ideas out there helped drive me to think outside the box, and come up with other unique touches.
First Dance Song:
Etta James: At Last. Our first date was when we were both 15 years old, and we are now 28. You can see the symbolism. 🙂

Love the socks and the bridesmaids dresses! Has sort of “polished” look about it, very put together! 🙂

Thank you ladies for featuring this wedding! xoxo.
So, so pretty. Those bridesmaids must have felt like princesses, too!
Absolutely beautiful – that dress is amazing!
This wedding is just gorgeous! The bridesmaids dresses are fun and so elegant!
I love this venue!!! and your wedding looks beautiful!
It was a pleasure to work with the bride on her save the dates, stationery, guest cottage packets and custom wedding monogram that was used throughout the wedding. What a beautiful day and stunning couple!
I’m in LOVE with the light pink shoes (Vera Wang?). Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding a pair of my own?
I hate to be a nitpicker, but the title for this showcase is a bit inaccurate. The wedding is gorgeous; don’t get me wrong! However, they’re in morning dress, which is completely different from black tie. I was a bit confused by the mismatch there.
Rose, you’re totally right. Thanks for the heads up, it’s fixed!
