This Rustic Chic Same-Sex Wedding in Vermont is All About Jewel Tones
We have fallen in love with this rustic chic same-sex wedding in Vermont’s Mad River Barn. With jewel-colored florals cascading from the wooden beams by Nectar and Root, and even a furry guest appearance, we simply cannot get enough of this gorgeous wedding beautifully captured by Lindsay Hackney. Keep reading for wonderful wedding planning advice from the brides!
From the photographer, Lindsay Hackney: Danielle and Myria were married on a sunny September day in Waitsfield, Vermont. There were so many personal touches and moments, from their private vow exchange during their First Look (with handmade vow books by Script and Vine) to the Vermont maple candy favors. A bluegrass band played before the ceremony and during cocktail hour, and Danielle paid tribute to her father with a special bottle of Maker’s Mark at the bar. All in all gorgeous day for these beautiful brides!
From the brides, Danielle and Myria: Vermont is full of beautiful rustic barn venues, however we were looking for something a little different for our wedding. We also wanted to find a place where our family and friends could stay on site for the weekend and really be able to relax and take advantage of Vermont‘s beauty. We visited many amazing locations, but as soon as we saw Mad River Barn in Waitsfield, VT, we knew right away that it was the perfect location for us with the right combination of rustic comfort and industrial modern touches. Great food and drinks as well as friendly, accommodating staff also helped! And with lodging for over 70 guests on site and many inns in the area, we were able to create the perfect staycation/destination wedding we had dreamed of to bring our family and friends together to celebrate with us.
From the brides, Danielle and Myria: The stars truly aligned as the venue had only one date available that happened to be one of our top choices, and we wrote a check for the deposit on the spot. This was a huge relief after many many hours of research. The location was really the first and most important step to creating the atmosphere we were searching for, so our advice to anyone planning a wedding would be not to settle on this choice, your perfect venue is out there, and you will know when you find it!
From the brides, Danielle and Myria: Our wedding was all about personalized touches, as we both really appreciate the beauty in the details (of weddings and in life!) We wanted to make every aspect of the wedding our own, so a lot of thought and care was put into every choice we made. We did most of the design ourselves, and we had so much fun sharing our love story with our guests through our details. We also wrote our own private vows which we read to each other at our first look, as well as our ceremony, which we had a close family friend officiate. These moments ended up being so special for us.
From the brides, Danielle and Myria: Wedding planning can of course be stressful, but we really tried to have fun with each step of the process, and we created a lot of great memories along the way. Whether it was the wedding venue search which brought us to so many beautiful areas of Vermont, trips to Brooklyn to design Myria’s wedding attire, weekends of antiquing to collect our decor, learning how to carefully apply vintage stamps to our invitations, or creating our custom cocktail, life is about the journey, and despite any bumps in the road, we always enjoy the ride!
