Washington Theater Wedding

Of all of the incredible wedding venues we’ve seen here at Ruffled, today’s has to be at the top of my favorites list. Camarin and Tyler were married on a theater stage, with their friends and family filling the auditorium seats. The Manchiks were there to capture every minute to perfection, including the couple’s dreamy waterside portraits.

From the bride, Camarin: I originally started out wanting this super hip, fun party, with a whimsical feel; but I quickly realized that this wedding is a reflection of both of us & our relationship and decided to go in a more traditional direction but still with some fun details that made it more interesting.

I wanted to have it look homemade, but still a little traditional as well as rustic. I always wanted to have a light pastel wedding, which worked for mid winter. We also added some grey and gold in there for more of a winter feel, that and I wanted to see my man in a grey suit ;] We did a quite a bit of diy. Hand cutting YARDS AND YARDS of fabric for streamers & backs of chairs, spray painting the frames that hung in back of us during the ceremony, Tyler made all of the cake stands and wooden stands for the tables, we painted the inside of the bottles on the tables, Tyler made all of the homebrew beer and cider that we served at the wedding, painted and glittered the feathers for the tables as well as the lions as our cake toppers, my talented friend did silhouettes of us to hang at the reception, hand painted and chalked signs done by my matron of honor (her husband did the invitations & programs as well). Lots of DIY, but that’s what we wanted.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Plan something that is a reflection of both of you. It is both your wedding, and let the two of you be excited about different aspects of the wedding that make it yours. Listen to each others’ ideas, and be flexible. Also, enjoy your day and breathe. Your photographers should be capturing every detail, so trust them.
