Handmade Melbourne Wedding
Last year we shared Cath and TJ’s engagement session, shot by talented Australian photographer Adrian Tuazon. Today Catherine is back to share a little bit about her wedding day with us! The images below are just a glimpse of how sweet their day was — join us in the gallery for more.
We both agreed that we wanted our wedding to feel like every party we have ever wanted to go to, ever. That meant keeping things casual and fun, low-fuss, and filled with as many nostalgic childish things as possible.
Our theme began as an obsession with collecting old teacup sets, something that I have been doing since I was 19. Over the years I had managed to amass over 100 of them, and these became our gifts for each guest. From there, the theme became really broad, encompassing childhood nostalgia (scrabble piece, vintage Golden Books, lolly buffet, ice-cream van), op-shop jumble sale and traditional country wedding elements like hay bales and crazy dancing.
Start planning/freaking out about DIY projects early in the process to avoid the classic last minute DIY-induced repetitive strain injuries. Tell your fiance at least once every week that no, the wedding will not be too girlie, and yes, he can have his favorite boutique beer at the reception. Enjoy looking at wedding blogs for inspiration but remember that in the end your day will be special to you, not matter how it ends up looking.
