Intimate South African Wedding
Today’s wedding, sent over to us by Lad & Lass, is a perfect example of why we love South African weddings so. It’s got perfect handmade details in all the right places, but not so much as to overpower the wedding as a whole. It’s intimate, it’s organic, and it’s love at its finest.
From the bride, Lucia: We wanted our wedding to be rustic Italian, whimsical, simple and relaxed. I didn’t have a colour scheme until I went to choose the flowers. They dictated the colours at the wedding.
There were lots of DIY projects. I am an artist and Fanie is an Industrial Designer. My bridesmaids are also all creatives in their own rights. We all enjoyed coming up with creative solutions to our decor challenges. We made all the paper decorations, I made all the origami and we did a lot of the flowers ourselves. We also made all the stamps we used and the thank you gifts.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Do what YOU want to do. Don’t let other people sway your decision making this way and that. Don’t let it become a big wedding monster. The most important thing about your wedding is that it is the beginning of the rest of your life together!!! It’s just a day. It’s your day! Enjoy it!!
