Romantic Martha’s Vineyard Wedding

When your sister-in-law is a floral designer, it’s a near guarantee that flowers will take center stage for your wedding decor. Such is the case with this wedding from Stacey Hedman, which features endless lush floral arrangements from Petal Floral Design — peonies, garden roses, and so many more in shades of pink and peach accentuate this beautiful Martha’s Vineyard wedding.

From the bride, Amy: We wanted an outside, open, sunny, beautiful, rustic feel. We wanted the natural elements of the farm where we got married, and the glisten of West Tissbury pond, with the lush green surroundings.

Our color was coral. We didn’t have traditional bridesmaids, instead we each had our 2 sisters stand up for us. Each woman wore their own style in coral. I carried an array of flowers, with coral, and oranges and other softer colors. Our sisters carried smaller bouquets with softer colors to let their dresses pop. We really let the natural elements of the farm, combined with flowers be the decor. We had hay barrels from the working farm at the top of the aisle and in the cocktail hour. We laid them with lace, and flowers. We had wood barrels that were on the farm, with flower details. We had the canoes that stay on the farm, at the entrance, sitting by the water.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Enjoy the process! It’s a fun year, and just go with it. To us, the venue was the most important. Once we picked that, everything fell into place. The hardest part was the guest list. Everything got easier after that. Remember, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter, what colors you pick, what kind of food you serve, etc — what matters is you are marrying the person you love. Keep that in mind the whole time and enjoy the journey!
