Romantic Illinois Farm Wedding
This beautiful Illinois farm wedding entails three things I’m quite fond of: romance, animals and being outdoors. Ashton and Brian’s big day shouts country in all the right ways. Lace, cowboy boots and handmade elements set the tone for one heart warming outdoor affair. I’m thrilled that Kina Wicks was there to photograph such a sweet day!
From the bride, Ashton: Our wedding was rustic, casual, and country, with shades of brown, green, creams, and white. We had an open seating arrangements, so we cut branches and tied string through them with our guests name so they could reserve their seat during cocktail hour. My mom made all the ribbon flyers for our guests, they waved them when we were announced husband and wife. We made all the signs throughout the wedding, and my husband woodburned our “H” that was on our wedding cake.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t sweat the small stuff – everything will work out on your big day.

From the photographer, Kina: Ashton and Brian’s day was in every way authentic, heart filled and beautiful. In fact, you could use all three of those adjectives to describe the groom, Brian and the bride, Ashton as well. Both Ashton and Brian love everything outdoors and country, so having their wedding at Heritage Prairie Farm in Elburn, Illinois only made perfect sense! Heritage Prairie Farm was the perfect backdrop for a wedding full of cowboy boots, burlap, and muted country colors. For the ceremony, they decided to get married outdoors underneath just one of many large oak trees on Heritage Prairie Farm’s grounds. From the ceremony to the cake, perfected simplicity played a key role in Ashton and Brian’s day. The simplicity allowed for an easy-going day that framed Ashton and Brian’s love perfectly.
