Tropical Destination Wedding Meets Modern Luxe in Riviera Maya
If you’re wanting to live the jet-set life for your wedding day, then an exotic location near the Mayan Jungle just might be calling your name. Today’s lavish and modern wedding in Riviera Maya designed by Crosby + Jon Design is all about the power of lush roses and living the life of luxury! I mean it IS your wedding day after all. Jeremy Chou caught every stunning detail from the stunning Chuppah to the rosé tower.
From the creative director, Emma with Crosby + Jon Design: As destination event planners and producers, our never-ending quest for fresh and upcoming destinations have taken us across the world. In our latest adventure, we found ourselves at Grand Velas Riviera Maya (a luxurious all-inclusive that caters to your every need). Encompassed by a peaceful stretch of Caribbean Ocean and wild Mayan Jungle, the expansive property offers multiple experiences for guests with its exotic location. Paired with delicious cuisine, unparalleled service and a desirable array of excursions and events, we felt this was the ideal location to produce a luxury editorial for our modern Jewish couple.
To begin we met with Ary Iturralde, the project director of Grand Velas and an expert in the wedding industry. We scouted locations across the expansive property for our ceremony and reception and established the concept for our lavish wedding design.
Next, we teamed with film photographer Jeremy Chou and videographer Robert Michael to capture our vision come to life. Our go-to Mexico hair and makeup artist Zoë Elizabeth gave our bride glowing skin, a soft pink lip and long dark lashes to contrast her pale blue eyes. Zoë swept our bride’s beach-y blonde waves into a low ponytail and completed the look with a beaded silver tiara from Untamed Petals. We selected a tulle ball gown by Miss Hayley Paige with a delicate sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice and a full tiered skirt, all accented with embroidery and lace details. We completed her accessories with detailed diamond drop earrings, an elegant diamond bracelet and black beaded heels from Bella Belle Shoes. The result? A modern princess vibe that perfectly suited our lavish inspiration.
Omg we love the lavish touches of gold paired with the pink roses and black goblets to make a gorgeous modern wedding in Riviera Maya.
Our ceremony took place along the pristine Caribbean shoreline, where we installed a wood floor structure on the sands of the property’s Grand Class Beach. Our Chuppah installation of organic tree branches was enclosed with a trellis of white florals and greenery by Vanessa Jaimes Floral Design. To keep a timeless feel to the design, we lined rows of Parisian-style tufted benches from Canteiro Weddings for the guests. Our groom (in a tailored black suit) waited beneath the Chuppah as our gorgeous bride made her way down an aisle of white rose petals. Our bridesmaid followed in a fitted pale pink Amsale gown. Meanwhile, Jeremy captured the scenic ceremony before us, all backdropped by the most beautiful ocean blues.
The wedding reception followed inside a gorgeous Parisian-style white ballroom. We chose this room because it felt like a blank slate where we could add playful elements to contrast the soft palette of the ceremony. Our goal was to have guests transition into this space and feel a little more edge to our Lavish vibe. Black plates, goblets and candlesticks were the perfect element to make this happen. Everything was set on a long row of tables covered in blush velvet linens from La Tavola. To keep the pink and black palette as the statement in the room, we lined the tables with minimalist ghost chairs from Canteiro. Pink floral arrangements in black containers and black escort cards with gold calligraphy added texture to the tablescape. The chefs at Grand Velas created a three-tiered pink wedding cake with macaroons adorning each layer. A champagne tour of crystal coupes was filled with rosé was a playful touch to complete the cake table display.
We concluded the celebrations at nightfall, with a private fireworks show from Pyro Tech Mexico and Special Events Mexico Fireworks. Our team relocated to the wooden deck at Grand Class Beach to capture the bride and groom viewing the beautiful production. A row of fountains emitted golden showers, framing our bride and groom for yet another jaw-dropping moment!
I don’t know about you, but we’re still oohing and ahhing over this lavish destination wedding in Riviera Maya. So let’s keep the good times coming with a romantic garden wedding.
