Outdoor Hunter Valley Wedding
Newlyweds Niamh and Gary desired a day that both embraced the two of them as a couple and the beauty of the Australian countryside. With photographers Lisa and Pete of And a Day by their side, it’s no wonder their wedding day was captured as beautifully as it was! Keep reading for some wise wedding planning tips from our bride, Niamh:
From the bride, Niamh: As we are not originally from Australia and had family and friends coming from overseas, we wanted a relaxed day that showcased both the beautiful countryside and said a lot about us as a couple — hence the complete blank canvas of a field, the great Australian BBQ for dinner, and a whole lot of eating, drinking, dancing and fun.
Our wedding day was rustic, relaxed, outdoorsy, and fun, with a color scheme of natural and earthy tones — brown kraft, greens etc. Everyone got a mix CD of our favorite songs, and Gary took great pride in providing lots and lots of empty beer bottles for the flowers.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t leave everything to the last minute, but enjoy every minute of the planning and preparation together (and do whatever you want to do, not anybody else — if you like tradition, keep it; if you don’t, throw it out). Stay relaxed and enjoy the day no matter how much everyone tells you that you wont or cant. Get yourself a photographer that gets you as a couple as you will have the photos forever (we are super delighted with ours). Also, make sure you get some time out afterwards — we still haven’t had a honeymoon!
