We have a feeling that today’s editorial will have you reeling for a destination wedding somewhere in Southern England. An old world coastal elopement shot in the majestic place of Lulworth, you’ll surely become weak at the knees after glimpsing the dreamy, cliffy coast that’s worthy of all the heart eyes. Light tones of wheat, honey and jade dance throughout the scenes in this romantic story crafted by an incredible team of wedding vendors + led by destination wedding planners Willow and Oak Events. So without further ado, here is some European elopement inspiration where elegance and nature meet!
Anneli Marinovich Photography sure has a penchant for romance in her fine art photography style, and these compelling images are no exception.
Inspired by the poetic landscape or the rural countryside, Willow and Oak Events tells an epic love story that has us feeling lighter than air. And at the very least, ready to book a plane ticket to this exact spot!
Endless adoration for these avant-garde arrangements by Bloomologie Flowers We want to be all swept up in these pretty little fleurs with a daring color combo!
From the Charleston and London-based event designer, Willow and Oak Events: Along the coast of Southern England sits a scallop-shaped cove called Lulworth – a romantic hideaway with rolling grasses, crashing waves and more natural beauty than imagination could muster. Our bride and groom met walking their dogs along this scenic trail – she an old soul with origins in France and he a spirited fixture of Dorset all his life. With this editorial, we sought to bring together an artful balance of nature, heritage, and whimsy.
Destination wedding photographer, Anneli Marinovich, captured the heartfelt moments and heirloom details with a reverence for the natural beauty of the locale; And the scene was brought to life even more by the foraged garden blooms from Bloomologie. Towering floral pillars with dried ferns and fluffy pampas pointed towards Heaven, as sketched vintage bentwood chairs from Virginias Vintage Hire sat before them overlooking the sea.
The handmade paper goods and calligraphy from Plume & Fete harked back to a romantic past era, complete with a calligraphed art card featuring the Birth of Venus. Wax seals and vintage stamps didn’t go amiss in the deckle-edged suite, and the texture continued on in the delicate Capiz shell place cards and decorative seashell highlighting a favorite Atticus quote – “Teach me this music which flows beneath your skin.”
Our bride seems to float throughout the scene in the graceful “Willow” gown from Made with Love, found at Coco + Kate Bridal boutique. Victoria Percival gave her a loose coiffured updo that mimicked the controlled chaos of the ocean waves, paired with a dewy makeup look with rosy cheeks. Completing the look is a handmade brass comb from Mignonne Handmade with forget-me-not inspired flowers in soft blue-grey hues. Another showstopper is the green tourmaline ring with diamonds and a textured golden barnacle band from Ruth Tomlinson.
Jade and honey hues decorate the table, complemented by brass and wood handle flatware from Classic Crockery. Before each place setting sits a pressed floral stem doubling as a favor for each guest in this intimate gathering, their sturdy copper frames juxtaposed against the softness of windblown silk. To incorporate all the senses, we imagined a fresh marine blend of lemon, jasmine and rose to fill the air, as sea salt, berries, and figs danced across the table. And if ever a song represented this editorial, it would be Golbourne Road by Nick Laird-Clowes.
Confections were not forgotten, and it was Sugar Plum Bakes who created the soft, concrete textured cake sitting atop a vintage nesting table. We love the way her handpainted brushstrokes mingle with fresh climbing lunaria billowing gently in the wind.
We are thankful to everyone who came together to make this coastal editorial with an old world spirit come to life and hope it inspires more destination weddings along this dreamy cliffside.
Reviving our burning desire for destination weddings, this coastal elopement in Southern England has us feeling the same way as when we first saw this Swiss Alps mountain elopement. Believe us, nothing beats the neverending scenic views these weddings have to offer!
