Mountain Elopement in the Swiss Alps
The mountains were calling; Ashley & Greg answered. Their desire for an intimate ceremony with a breathtaking view culminated in a mountain elopement in the Swiss Alps. We imagine the crisp Autumn air, natural beauty of the landscape and their personal vows were enough to start some (happy) waterworks. Their reception captures the essence of beauty in simplicity, with romantically colored foliage and fruits decorating the white-washed floor table. It truly looks like a kiss of fall. David & Kathrin Photography and Film captures everything from this dreamy lounge to the couple’s sweet nothings and everything in between. So long story short, this elopement has our hearts!
From the planner, Tabea Maria-Lisa, and photographer, David & Kathrin Photography and Film: For years Ashley dreamed about this day: That she would spend this memorable day just with her handsome groom and her parents; that she would be surrounded by the rawness of nature, breathing in fresh air with a taste of endless freedom; that she would rest with her loved ones to savour a piece of cake; that she would dance with her love when the sun would kiss the mountains good night and that this day would be designed only for the two of them and that these memories would last forever. After the elopement and in the evening when we said goodbye to the newlyweds, and Ashley’s father took us to his side telling us with tears in his eyes: “Thank you for making my daughters biggest dream come true.” Well, we couldn’t wish for a more heartfelt compliment because of what we planned and designed for them! The pleasure was all ours and it was a great privilege to join them on their Elopement.
It actually was Ashley and Greg’s first time in Switzerland. So when they got in touch with us because of their plan to elope in our beautiful country, pretty much all they wrote us was: “The thing that we want most is gorgeous mountain views.” And that they wouldn’t mind enjoying a short hike. Well, they got it all. Even though the hike wasn’t that short in the end but they really didn’t mind.
So we decided to took them way up to the Alps near Grindelwald where their backdrop would be Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau – three of the most majestic mountains Switzerland has to offer. It was one of these tender autumn days when the far-sightedness is just priceless. And because they were willing to take a hike – even with her dress – we took them somewhere there are no tourists at all and they were just for themselves. (Well, concerning the set up of the reception: Let’s just say we allowed us A LOT of candies afterward. And going the extra mile was totally worth it.)
Talking about the floral design and styling: Our goal was to capture the colors of autumn, combining the rawness of the mountain backdrop with a passionate red, soaking in some sweet shades of pink and saying yes to a surprisingly refreshing color such as blue. All the props were vintage and since they were sitting on cushions and blankets we set up the dinner on an old wooden table from which we just shortly removed its stands. By using ivory silk linen table runner on a white wooden board we displayed the multitude of colors and textures. After all, it was our desire to bring the essence of their very own love story to life. Adding a little detail about the bouquet: The bride told us she intentionally would wear a simple dress so we could go big with the bouquet. Well, you don’t have to say that twice to a floral designer. Every life writes its unique story – we were honored to be part of Ashley and Gregs for one day.
