Magical Midsummer Night’s Dream Wedding
Now that the excitement of Eclipse 2017 has died down, we thought we’d share this sweet pick-me-up to get Tuesday kicked off right! Maria and Brian’s California wedding was inspired by Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, one of our own personal faves for creative ideas. Bride Maria set to work planning it all, bringing in The Little Branch to create lush floral arrangements and Mirelle Carmichael to photograph every detail and happy moment. Congratulations, newlyweds!
From the bride, Maria: Our story is one of an English woman and an American filmmaker who fell in love. Given our creative backgrounds, it was important to have a wedding that truly represented us. I planned/designed the entire wedding from our home in London and DIYed everything from my own bridal crown, the invitations (using real walnut veneer and gold embossing powder!), building the seating chart from old pallets and painting/printing every sign and quote around the venue (including the menu and the calligraphy for all of the food labels!). The tables were named after different movie couples with facts about the relevant movie in small glass bottles on each table to act as ice breakers.
As the wedding took place on Easter, the groomsmen hid 100 colourful Easter eggs around the venue. Pictures were taken with smoke bombs, fairy berries adorned the trees and giant jumbo games featured during the reception. Together Brian and I designed our wedding cake which was based on the changing seasons (the bottom tier lush with florals represented Spring/Summer, the middle tier adorned with Autumn leaves and the a frosted top tier with no two snowflakes alike). Our custom cocktails (Pimms and the All American Mule) represented our home countries and further touches such as the hand engraved ring box with the quote “Across the Ocean” referenced our international love.
