Handmade Yarra Glen Wedding

Full of tons of handmade details, this Yarra Glen wedding photographed by Jessica Tremp of Brown Paper Parcel Photography is just lovely. Between the creative talents of the bride, groom and their friends, many of the decorative elements were DIY, which really helped set the tone for the special day. A beautiful AND crafty couple? I like it!

From the bride, Nicole: I guess we wanted a wedding that reflected our personalities and interests, and we definitely wanted our wedding to be super-fun for all of our guests! I think our wedding had a fairly “laid-back/handmade” feel. There was a lot of DIY work involved by us and our clever friends. We made our own bonbonierre (cupcakes presented in boxes tied with twine), as well as a decorative paper banner for the backdrop of our ceremony. We also made our wedding programs and some other wedding stationery. We didn’t set out on a colour theme, but in the end we ended up having a lot of pastel colours combined with pops of bold navy and maroon.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? If you are doing a mainly DIY wedding, definitely take friends up on their offers to help! We wouldn’t have been able to do it all without help from some wonderful people. Also, making lists always helps!
