Industrial Folk Wedding with DIY Everything
Today’s industrial folk wedding has left us speechless. So much of the decor was DIY’ed by the bride herself, who also happens to be a star stylist for To Have & To Hold Weddings. We’re still reeling from the velvet wrap bridesmaid dresses, boho hoops and angled wooden planks that decorated the ceremony beneath softly lit Edison bulbs, and we can’t imagine a more perfect venue to fit the laid-back, yet elevated vibe. Westlund Photography didn’t miss a thing, and this gallery has us asking if this is a Mumford & Sons song come to life.
From the stylist, Katie of To Have & To Hold Weddings: If you know me, I’m a DIY queen, so I’ll admit when I started planning our wedding, as an artist, this was a “project” that I was stoked to take on. Throughout the process I began to realize that this was something that was going to be a TON of work, so luckily my fiancé and I were able to score a gorgeous venue that fit us and was already styled beautifully, so less work for us! Our vision was something that would fit our personalities, a down to earth vibe with nods to elegance. We wanted to create a feeling that was a clash between modern and boho. Immediately, when I started brainstorming, I knew I wanted to hand make something special and authentic for the altar space since it would be the space that would soon become so intimate for the two of us. I made various wall hangings incorporating foliage, brought in some textile rugs, potted many cacti, and I had a dear friend execute my vision perfectly on the day of! So many guests admitted that the wedding felt like an exact representation of us as a couple, which was so awesome! If it wasn’t for all the help and so many friends and helpers, I don’t know how it would have worked out!
