Vibrant Indian Wedding in a Downtown LA Urban Garden with a Modern Twist
Lua & Chetan know how to throw one incredible party and look absolutely breathtaking and carefree while doing it. Feathered Arrow Events planned an incredible urban garden wedding in downtown LA that’s bursting with vibrant colors and beautifully blending Indian traditions with a modern twist. Between the couple’s incredible TWO outfits, the colorful carnations and dyed baby’s breath we can’t help but smile from ear to ear over every. single. gorgeous photo by Loie Photography.
From the planner, Feathered Arrow Events: Lua + Chetan decided to get married at Union Station downtown and invited almost 300 loved ones to celebrate with them in a traditional Indian wedding ceremony and reception. They wanted to do a mixture of traditional Indian attire for the ceremony and then change into traditional wedding attire for the reception. The couple wanted the ceremony to be bright and full of color and the reception to be more of a muted palette. Guests arrived by taking part in a traditional Indian baraat as the groom lead it through the tunnel of the train station with a drum player and they danced their way to the ceremony space. Guests were treated to traditional Indian food, music and they danced the night away into the early hours of the morning.
For the design of the day, Inessa Nichols Design, the floral designer, designed a lush urban garden what a modern twist. Her design approach was to pay respect to the beauty of the historical venue while adding in the traditional use of color found in Indian weddings and a nod to the classic, timeless palette of green and white used throughout the reception.
The color was brought in for the ceremony portion of the event from the bouquets to the foam free mandap they created using a mix of carnations, dahlias, gerber daisies, bougainvillea and pink dyed baby’s breath. She finished off the design with unique stem dyed carnation garlands hung throughout the mandap. Inessa added a fun mix of chic bud vases to the cocktail hour using pops of color while adding in some of the classic green and white blooms which the guests would see throughout the reception design.
The reception design focused on creating a classic modern look using white blooms, plants and seasonal foliage. She created a modern living garland design for the long tables, a potted urban garden look for the round tables and a mixture of the two looks for the sweetheart table finished off with simple chrysanthemum garlands strung off the front of the table. A portion of the ceremony design was transferred over to modern circular structure behind the couple for that fun pop of color the guests saw in the ceremony design.
We are head over heels for this gorgeous Indian wedding in downtown LA that is bringing our dream urban garden wedding to life! Bursting with juicy colors and wild textures, we are seriously obsessing over the ceremony arch. We’re always in search for incredible ceremony setups so here are a few we’ve rounded up that we just love!
