Glam Wedding with an Unexpected Tropical Twist
We’re glitzing and glamming it up today with this eye-catching Ashley Slater Photography wedding. Chic & Pretty Events was at the helm for planning this lovely affair and we love the old Hollywood feel it has, with a delightful tropical surprise to be found at the reception. Posh Petals combined lush florals with tall banana leaves and we just love how much the two styles blend so effortlessly.
From the bride, Nancy: My inspiration for an Art Deco theme was pulled from my love of 1920s fashion, luxe design, and timeless romanticism. From initial design to full implementation, I knew I wanted standout centerpieces – the final design that we settled on exceeded my expectations. The reception space was exquisite and timeless – the modern touches such as the sequin linens really rounded out the design and made for a unique take on 1920s glam. I would recommend a wedding designer for couples who are busy and feel like the details are best left to a trained professional.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? My biggest advice for all newly engaged couples is to take time and savor the experience – wedding planning can be stressful and in the end it’s not worth worrying about every detail – the marriage is far more important than the wedding!
From the planning and design team, Chic & Pretty Events: We wanted to combine vintage Hollywood glamour with modern luxury. The Ballroom at Mckay was the perfect setting with its tall white marble columns and large intricate chandeliers. I never like to go with the more common choices when designing a themed wedding because it takes away elements of surprise. What’s a better surprise than walking into a room with banana leaves bigger than your body and an 18 piece band, right? Posh Petals and I were in love with how it all turned out. It gave the perfect amount of volume and everyone was blown away when they walked into the room, especially Nancy and Andrew.
