Glittery Webb Barn Wedding
What better way to kick off the week than with a glittery and whimsical wedding at Webb Barn? We couldn’t contain our glee when we saw this wedding from Michelle Gardella, Petal Floral Design, and Heidi Chronister and Jen Strunk, which is packed to the gills with design inspiration and creative ideas for everyone.
From the bride, Erin: My husband and I are wedding photographers so we attend a lot of weddings every year. We knew when we started planning our own wedding that we didn’t want it to be like every one that we go to and see on the internet, and we didn’t want to do anything because we felt like it was something we HAD to do. We wanted our day to be fun, original, comfortable, and above all personal. We wanted our guests to walk in, feel at home and see both of us in all of our details and know that everything we brought in was thought out and had a reason for being there. I have a degree in art so the watercolor was very important to me, and Peter is a cyclist (he rode his bicycle across the country last summer!) so we tried to incorporate that as much as we could – thats why our family friend Dave made us the gorgeous bicycle wheel chandelier and we had bike details everywhere!! Style-wise we wanted it to be rustic (but not too rustic), elegant, relaxed and fun. We just wanted all of our guests to enjoy being there!
Our wedding was fun, comfortable, elegant, rustic – I changed my color scheme about a hundred times prior to the wedding but in the end it was mint green watercolor and gold glitter. Basically everything at the wedding was a DIY project! Everyone said it would be too much work but it was really important to us to have everything be personal and handmade. My sisters and mom and I worked so hard on everything to have it done in time! In addition to all of the handmade things, sentimental things were very important to us. All of the lace used belonged to our grandparents, the typewriter belongs to my grandmother, the table that the cakes were on belongs to my grandmother, the trunk used for cards was given to me by my grandmother, the glass bottles everywhere are from our grandparents houses and attics, the ladders that held our escort cards belonged to each of our grandfathers, the old books on the tables belonged to our grandparents, the watering can belonged to Peters grandfather.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? HAVE FUN! So many people get stressed out and worry about small, unimportant things. Your wedding is about you two as a couple and nothing else. If something is out of place or if a floral arrangement goes missing – chances are no one will even notice except for you! We are very laid back people and we made a conscious decision prior to the wedding to not worry about anything and so on our wedding day, we just relaxed and had fun. It was amazing! Also, don’t feel like you have to do anything you don’t want to do, just because it’s a ‘wedding’ and you feel like you should. We didn’t cut the cake, I didn’t throw my bouquet, and we didn’t introduce our bridal party at the reception – simply because we didn’t want to! It’s about you two and celebrating your love, and that’s all. Don’t worry about what anyone else will think!
