Wearing Her Sister’s Wedding Dress

When Lillywhite Photography sent this wedding our way, we were delighted to read the background story. Not only is the bride in this wedding the photographer’s very own sister, but the siblings actually shared the same Pronovias wedding gown nearly two years apart! All Occasions Event Planning and Knot Just Flowers contributed their incredible eye for design and flowers for a day that’s truly relaxed and breathtaking at the same time.

From the bride, Jennifer: I wanted our wedding day to feel romantic and natural. I loved our venue and I wanted to take advantage of the natural scenery by focusing my details and decor to match the natural garden setting. We envisioned a romantic, whimsical, garden wedding; I mostly focused on shades of pink (specifically blush and coral), neutral tones, and greenery.

My husband and I made the favors (scented votive candles). I made the wedding invitations myself. My sister and I made the table seating cards, and the labels for the desserts and beverages using watercolor paint and calligraphy. My sister made the bride and groom signs for the sweetheart chairs, she also made the welcome chalkboard sign. I made the remaining various chalkboard decor signs.

From the photographer, Lillywhite Photography: I am a wedding photographer and had the honor of photographing my sister’s wedding 🙂 Little did I know on my wedding day that my sister would be wearing the same wedding gown as I did almost exactly two years later. Dress shopping was pretty hard for me because I had such a strong vision of the dress I wanted. Something lacy, but a different type of lace. Something simple, but that would truly be one of a kind. When I tried on my dress from Pronovias at Pebbles Bridal Shop, I without a doubt KNEW it was the one. When I saw my groom for the first time, I knew that he KNEW it was the one too. I felt so me & absolutely stunning in my dress. When my sister got engaged, we kind of threw around the idea of her trying on my dress too. I knew her wedding would be so different and it didn’t bother me at all to share it. I thought it would be a great way to save money and I wanted to get more use out of a dress so pretty! When she went to Pebbles Bridal Store to try on dresses, we brought my dress along with us. She tried on a few & when she tried on mine, I knew it was the one. She was completely glowing and the dress took on a whole new feel with her in it. Seeing her in that dress on her wedding day was such a full expression of the love we have for each other. Along with sharing the wedding gown, we also shared in being each others’ maid of honor. I really felt our weddings were an example of the sisterly love we have for each other.
