Romantic North Carolina Beach Wedding
Today’s wedding is light, airy, and romantic — everything the newlyweds wanted, and everything a beach wedding should be. Sawyer Baird captured the entire day on film photography, a day full of inspiring floral design from Tildy Designs and expert coordination by Bridal by the Sea. Keep an eye out at the end for special sunset wedding portraits in a gold reception gown, because we’re pretty sure it doesn’t get any better than something that beautiful!
From the bride, Jessica: Austin and I would have been happy to be married at the court house so we really wanted to focus on simplicity and romance. We had a gorgeous venue to get married at so luckily it didn’t really need a lot of decorating… plus we had an ocean view and it really doesn’t get much better than that! I had some close friends who I have known for a long time and where directly involved with making the day extra special — the ceremony painter, dress designer, ceremony vocalist — which was amazing! We aimed for Light, Airy and Romantic with personal touches and a Southern food theme.
Bouquet recipe: A beautiful gathering of white roses, ivory roses, white lisianthus, light pink heather, white wax, light pink wax flowers, dusty miller, blush pink spray roses and gunni euk greenery. Ivory ribbon wrap with pearl pin closure.
I am a painter and a photographer by trade so the color palette was pretty hard for me — I knew the colors could easily get carried away because I don’t really have any one favorite. I would just have them all if I could! I tried to start with a pretty neutral color palette with blush and gold — I ended up with added hits of darker magenta added and splashes of green from the greenery. I hand painted some signs for the dessert table and for the menu. I also made gifts for the women (some coworkers of mine threw a breakfast earlier that day with about 25 ladies). They got simple tie string infinity knot bracelets with a little card that had an illustration of Austin and I on it. I also made the Thank You cards at the place settings. Also – my Mother made the ring bearer pillow from her own veil from when she got married.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? My best advice for a couple currently planning a wedding would be that something will inevitably go wrong — and when it does, the most important thing to remember is that this day belongs to you and your significant other so take time to soak it all in and enjoy it. I was so excited to marry Austin that I wanted to run right down the isle to him. Throughout the day when Id notice something that wasn’t quite right Id just look over at him and remember that this was the first day of our forever — it was only going to happen once and little things like napkin colors and too much wind wasn’t what was important… The most important thing was who I was leaving with and how much we love each other.
