Real Sand Dunes Elopement with a Black Wedding Gown
We’ve got something truly special to share today, and it’s sure to tug at your heartstrings. Morgan and Mike chose to elope, picking sand dunes in Arizona as their spot to say I Do and ensuring they could keep the focus solely on each other and their overwhelming love. Add a black lace gown to the mix, flowers by The Wildflower AZ, and a desert inspired tablescape, and you’ve got all the magic seen in these images by Saje Photography!
From the bride, Morgan: It was a busy Christmas morning with our baby Wyatt and whole family at Mike’s moms house. He handed me this beautifully decorated box, saying it was from Wyatt. I was looking down at the box, when I realized the whole room went silent. A very piercing moment for me since Christmas morning is always noisy. Then I heard our song playing on low volume and something clicked inside of me. I picked my head up to look around and everyone in the room was staring at me with a look I’ll never forget. I immediately began bawling, I just knew what was happening. Mike picked me up to stand and inside the box, was 5 cards that said “Momma will you marry daddy?” He was on one knee and said some stuff that I don’t really remember, but then asked me if I would marry him. My response was “Duh, Babe! Duh, of course I will!” That was the easiest answer I’ve ever given.
The journey with planning was very smooth and allowed us to focus on just us. I trusted my vendors and truly loved their work so they took care of everything for me. Arizona is our home aka our culture. We went more of the non traditional route but brought God into our vows. The highlight of our ceremony, no question, was the connection we shared together, being alone at the altar and speaking from our hearts.
The reception melted my heart. Walking with my husband, chasing another in the sand, racing each other up the hills, is exactly who we are and how we fell in love. Then sitting alone together at our beautiful table in the candlelight, was the most romantic and magical experience I can barely describe. Brings me to tears playing it over in my head.
From the photographer, Saje Photography: An elopement featuring simple, yet stunning views and the romantic feeling of a secluded backdrop is what this gorgeous couple craved. When we began to dream up the inspiration for this elopement, we knew the Imperial Sand Dunes in Southern California would be exactly what we were searching for. Morgan loved the idea of a long, flowing black gown against the soft sand and hills. We wanted to mix both modern elements with a touch of bohemian aspects to create an unforgettable setup. The couple tied the knot under a striking minimalist wedding arch. Their intimate dinner table for four included bold floral accents with a perfect tablescape created by Tara of The Confetti Studio. Our color palette consisted of muted tones, bold black, copper and pops of emerald. Yet despite the breathtaking backdrop, we couldn’t take our eyes off the bride! Her dark smokey eye, and wavy low bun complemented the bold and unique details of her dress. These two truly captivated both true love and passion as they exchanged vows in such romantic and quiet setting.
